The Nigerian Ports Authority has proposed a competitive tariff regime of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) that would place the Agency on a better platform in the sub-region.

This was part of a statement of Managing Director of the NPA, Hadiza Bala Usman.

The NPA boss made this known while addressing a team of Oxford Business Group UK, who paid her a courtesy visit.

Usman also promised to ensure full implementation of the nation’s ports master plan which, according to her, would prioritize the utilization of Railway Networks by the NPA in the efficient distribution of cargo across the nation Seaports in line with best practices.

In a statement issued by Principal Manager, Ibrahim Nasiru, the NPA Managing Director explained that “the Maritime world is embracing intermodal dictates which we (NPA) will ensure we key into that most efficiently”.

Concerning trans-shipment, Usman explained that NPA’s synergy with the private sector is geared towards the actualization of Deep Seaports across the nation and “would help position the country for greater economic relationship”.

On the gridlock hampering efficient service delivery at the Ports, Hadiza Usman says; “there is already a robust approach amongst stakeholders stressing that results concerning this subject would take no time in reflecting positively on the time hitherto spent on the affected access roads”.

Hadiza Bala Usman informed the visitors that “management of NPA would prioritize the rehabilitation of infrastructure at the Ports, so as to bring to bear, optimal operational activities”, which she said would be key in “more revenue generation for the country at this time of need for the economy”.
