OPINION: God Please Let Buhari and his Cabal know; We Can’t Breathe.

"We are here now begging that for whatever lessons or punishments You desired for us to learn or serve, we have more than learnt and served and are saying; forgive us and deliver us from this weight of their knees on our throats".

I am compelled to write a series of articles, starting with this, as it has come to the stage of us going to our God Almighty to help us do the talking.

He alone, can talk and no one has the power to gag or use the apparatus of office to intimidate, incarcerate, eliminate or even buy off.

We have been groaning in foolish silence for too long and we know that You knew so but, was waiting for us to ASK as Your Holy Books dictated.

We now know that we are not groaning, grumbling or crying to and under  humane, fair and just leaders, but oppressive, depressive and repressive rulers hence our cry to You to either help counsel them in Your own way or, call them to order because You put them over us for reasons best known to You.

We know that You alone puts Kings on the thrones and remove Kings from the thrones and that is why we have been subjective to their authorities (whether conducive, offensive or worse).

We are here now begging that for whatever lessons or punishments You desired for us to learn or serve, we have more than learnt and served and are saying; forgive us and deliver us from this weight of their knees on our throats. The chokehold they have applied on us is suffocating and deoxygenating us and we are beginning to see our papas and mamas (our heroes past) who have long gone and are calling out for their help.

We have been enslaved in our own lands. The wells we have dug in our own backyards, have been taken over by strangers from far lands that we welcomed to fetch because, we were brought up to love and share with our neighbors.

They have since taken over our wells, backyards and even the whole compound, used us to build shutters on the wells, and they padlocked and brought their own to sit on the shutters as guards and still use our children as labourers to fetch and transport for them whenever and wherever they want it.

Yet, as owners, our children and we are expected to dance with joy when we are allowed to sip the little spills. It is not as if their allowing us that little, is because they love us that much or, are being considerate, but it is just to keep us alive to enable us continue to be of service to them as they still have not acquired the skills or strength of the hard labour.

God, is this fair? We know You are a just God and Your wish for us is to prosper and be in good health even as our souls prosper and we know that the thoughts You have for us are of good and not of evil.

Enough is enough!! We cannot breathe and we are gasping for air.

The unfairness is so evident everywhere you go. Our “Space” is looking more like an Iraqi/Afghanistan Space. Ninety percent of appointments, local or international, are from a single ethnic group out of hundreds. Even the remaining ten percent conceded to the others are always chucked by another from theirs to be monitors.

There had never been such levels of blatant impunity, nepotism, corruption, injustices, oppressions, wickedness, callous killings, hungers, etc like the present! So we ask; how long, oh God, are we going to continue to suffer in the midst of the plenty you have endowed us with? How long would You continue to watch us groan in pains of “the balls and the chains”? How long would our “first elevens” be overlooked for those who cannot qualify for the fifth elevens only because they don’t belong? God, our lungs are collapsing as a result of the suffocations yet You do nothing because You thought we like what we are seeing or going through as we have not cried out to you! We are sorry Lord; we have come to You to help free us from these “knees” and “chokeholds” because we can’t breathe.

We know we have strayed away from You and Your ways but, as the Prodigal children that we are, we have come back to You our Father to say we have realized that we had been selfish in our ways and have not been faithful with what You have entrusted in our hands. Even our commonsense and abdicating our positions of the “firstborns”.

You are an ever faithful, merciful & loving Father that is why we have returned to say help us Breathe again (even if for our children’s sake) and we promise that we shall not shame You and our heroes past again.

Thank You because we know that You will not turn a “deaf ear” to our cries.
