Prominent politician and one of the leading figures amongst her female contemporaries, Chief Mrs Maria Samuel Dogo, has indicated her preparedness to run for the Chikun/Kajuru seat in the Federal House of Representatives, come 2023 general elections.

Honourable Maria Dogo, since the return of democracy in 1999, has remained a respectable, admired and committed community leader with impeccable leadership qualities that have earned her love by her people, owing to her representation of the good people of her state, especially the Gbagyi chiefdom.

The announcement of her intention to pursue the ticket of her political party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, where she has remained a foundation member, was received with applause and jubilation by constituents in the Chikun/Kajuru federal Constituency.

A dogged leader of women and youths across religious and political divides in Kaduna State, Maria Dogo is reported to have the blessings of the various stakeholders especially women who seek for a new deal in the political equation as far as they are concerned and are therefore, demanding for the support of all women and youths.

According to some of the youth leaders within the Federal Constituency of Chikun/Kajuru, the time for a change has come and we are strongly behind Hon. Maria Samuel Dogo.

Hon. Mrs. Maria Samuel Dogo; born on the 15th of May 1967, Gbagyi by tribe, Hails from Yelwa ward of Chikun Local Government Area, Kaduna State. Happily married with four kids, Hon. Maria Dogo stands out as one of Kaduna’s finest and dogged administrators and politicians.

Chief Mrs. Maria Samuel Dogo was the only female member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly in 2003, and served until 2007. She was also appointed as Commissioner for Women Affairs on two occasions by the then Executive Governor, Sir. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa.

As a Member of the State Assembly between 2003 and 2007, she embarked on series of projects to improve the lives of her constituents which includes:

➢ Romi road that takes off from Samrada filling station;

➢ Bridge between Romi and Gbagyi villa, by graveyard.

➢ College road Sabon Tasha by signboard to Juji and also, the construction of the Juji Bridge.

➢ General hospital Sabon Tasha; Hon Maria Dogo used a land donated to her on personal terms by Alhaji Ahmadu Chachangi ,and Lobbied the State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi to build a General hospital in Sabon Tasha, opposite NNPC gate, (documents are there).

➢ Construction of 12 Bore holes in the 12wards of Chikun Local Government Area

➢ Distribution of Motorbikes, Bicycles, gift of cars to Gbagyi, Kabilu and Hausa community leaders to aide mobility for community services.

➢ Kudenda road that takes off from Flour mill junction;

➢ The upgrade of Gwagwada, Ungwan Ayaba, kakau clinical centers. (Joint projects of State and Local Government) and many more.

➢ Securing employment in the NNPC for women and youth numbering 21(working till date)

As a Commissioner and member of the State Executive Council, She facilitated so many projects and many activities that made great impact for the women and youth of Kaduna state. Mrs. Maria Dogo became the symbol of women emancipation in Kaduna state and used as reference across the nation. Some of her works during this period include:

➢ Secured jobs for a good number of women and youth in the Local and State Government agencies.

➢ Poverty Alleviation for women as a Commissioner: Some of which includes; Deep freezers, Grinding machines, Sewing machines, food stuffs, wrappers and more to all beneficiaries in the 23 Local Government Areas of the State.

Chief Mrs. Maria Dogo has garnered so much experience as she’s been so busy and very active all through her public life since the early years of Democracy in Nigeria. Below are some key positions she’s held so far:

➢ Member of Christian Pilgrim welfare board 20th Jan 2001.

➢ Member, Kaduna State House of Assembly (2003 – 2007)

➢ Member, PDP Campaign Committee, Zone 2 & Women Leader of His Excellency, Arc. Mohammed Namadi Sambo (8/Feb/2007)

➢ The Bureau of Budget Implementation monitoring and Price Intelligence (Due Process office) Sir Kashim Ibrahim House Kaduna (29/July /2010).

➢ Board member, Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (28th/May/2012).

➢ Commissioners and Member of Kaduna State Executive, (15th August 2011)

➢ Member Committee on essential election material (25th/July/2013) by the National body of PDP.

➢ Member, Kaduna State PDP Caretaker committee women leader (14/August/2020)

➢ Kaduna state PDP Reconciliation Committee member (12/Jan/2021).

There is absolutely no question about her capacity and experience to do more while representing her people at the national level. Well known for her loyalty to the People’s Democratic Party, her doggedness in service to the people of Chikun, Kajuru LGAs and Kaduna state at large is unprecedented. Her antecedents are written in gold. For these reasons and more, her people honours her with several traditional titles which are: Ashuza Adara (Yar Masanin) and Saurauniyan Gbagyi kaduna (Queen of Gbagyi). Indeed, honour is given to whom honour is due!
