POPULTION FIGURE SOKAPU, CAN CONDEMNS EL-RUFAI'S COMMENTS

El-RUFAI TAKES FLAK OVER POPULATION RATIO

“Muslims/Christians ratio is 70/30% in Kaduna State”

It seems the Kaduna state Governor, Nsir Ahmed el-Rufai enjoys being in the news over issues that are perceived controversial.
The most recent of the controversies involving the state Chief Executive has to do with his comments while on a national TV interview.
While answering questions from the Channels Tv during a live programme; Sunrise Daily, the governor had alluded to the population ration between the Muslims and Christians to be 70-30.
This has sparked off some controversies and several groups which included the Christian Association of Nigeria CAN Kaduna state chapter and the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union, SOKAPU had lambasted for trying to create a religious upheaval in the state between the two major religious bodies.
According to Ishaya Kantiyok who is a stakeholder in the state, “the last census conducted by National Population Commission (NPC) had no column that asked citizens their religions. Lack of such a column produced a census figure of people without their religion in LGAs and states. So, scientifically, nobody has an authentic figure of adherence of any religion in any state in Nigeria”.
“If the foregoing is impeccable cum incontrovertible, how did Governor el-Rufai arrive at the ratio of 70/30 percentages of Muslims and Christians in Kaduna State? Did the position of a Governor bestow on him the authority to whimsically and capriciously manufacture figures of Christians and Muslims in Kaduna State”? Kantiyok queried.
As a stakeholder, one becomes curious that a leader, since assuming leadership on 29th May 2015, would want to create more controversies than any governor in the history of the state. If it isn’t telling dissidents to his actions to go climb Mountain Kufena and fall, it is a Religious Regulation Bill. If it isn’t lies on figures Jonathan spent on Independence celebrations, it is a resolution on “hate speech” Kantiyok further stated.
May be Christians are just 30% that was why they refused them the state’s Ministerial slot. That might have guided his decision to make only 3 out of 15
Permanent Secretaries in 2015 in Kaduna State. It must have engineered his decision to deny them Secretary of the State Government, SSG, PPS, Chief of Staff or, the position of Accountant General. That must be why he never bothered to personally attend any of their town hall meetings in Southern Kaduna.
Kantiyok described the actions of the governor as a mechanism of diverting peoples’ attention from a lack of his faithfulness to the mandate given on 11th April 2015 noting that, there is no project to showcase his one year in office.
The Chinese prayed to live and see interesting times in their lives. Without a similar prayer, God has made one to live in such interesting moments. Power
corrupt, indeed.
