FUEL HIKE, HEIGHT OF INSENSITIVITY BY BUHARI
Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki, The President of the Kaduna PDP
Youth Patriotic Front and a strong member of the opposition Peoples Democratic
Party (PDP), says the over 50% hike in the pump price
of petrol, PMS by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is senseless and
the height of cruelty against the people of Nigeria.

The President of the Kaduna PDP Youth
Patriotic Front and a strong member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party
(PDP), Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki says the over 50% hike in the pump price of
petrol, PMS by the government of President Muhammadu Buhari is senseless and
the height of cruelty against the people of Nigeria.
Danjuma Sarki, a
forthright and outspoken youth leader who has earned his place in the politics
of the state and including the top hierarchy of the PDP at the national level,
is known for his strong criticisms of the APC led-government.
Comrade Danjuma who
is the President of the Kaduna State PDP Patriotic Youth Front, PYF has
described as callous, the decision of the Buhari administration that has not
added any value to the economic well-being of its people since it assumed
office almost a year ago to dish out such obnoxious policy on the same people
that voted it into office.
The PYF President
has therefore warned that, should the decision to allow for the increment to
stand, the economic hardship that will follow on the lives of the average Nigerian,
would be disastrous and vicious.
In a statement he
issued, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki noted that, “there is no justification that
despite the decrease in international price of oil, which is today hovering
around $45, Nigerians are still made to buy fuel at #145 per litre”.
“This decision only
goes to shows that the present government has lost touch with the yearning and
aspirations of the masses. We believe that no sensible government would
contemplate increase in price of Petroleum product at a time like this when
Nigerians are obviously going through excruciating hardship and lack, where
prices of household commodity are avoidably, skyrocketing”.
It could be
recalled that before assuming office as President and Vice respectively,
Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osibanjo with their political party; the All
Progressive Congress, APC had criticized and rejected vehemently, any
deregulation of the Downstream Sector by the Jonathan administration.
“It is absolutely
deceptive that Buhari, Osinbajo and the APC who vehemently rejected the
deregulation of the downstream sector by the past administration and during the
last campaigns promised to reduce the pump price of petrol from N87 to N45 have
now decided to insult the sensibility of Nigerian by this increase”.
Speaking on behalf
of the Kaduna PDP Youth Patriotic Front, its President stated that; “this
decision of the APC administration has further exposed their disconnect with
the people and has once again proven their insensitivity to the plight of the
common man. It obviously shows that Buhari and his APC co-travellers are not
interested in improving the welfare of the downtrodden, but derive joy in
inflicting untold hardship on the people”.
