SAMBO DASUKI REJECTED GOVT’S OFFER

The Minister of Interior, Gen. Abdulrahman Bello Dambazzau (Retd.) has disclosed that Col. Sambo Dasuki, the embattled former National Security Adviser to former President Goodluck Jonathan rejected the government offer to pay his last respect to the late Sultan of Sokoto, Ibrahim Dasuki.

Abdulrahman Dambazzau made this known while answering questions from media practitioners during the burial of the late Alhaji Ibrahim Dasuki in Sokoto as head of the Federal government delegation on Tuesday 15^th November.

The detained Col. Sambo Dasuki who is facing corruption charges by the Buhari administration, is the son of the late Sultan who was removed from office by the then Abacha regime.

According to reports monitored from Sokoto, queries were said to have been raised as to impropriety of the government’s decision to deny the embattled former NSA the opportunity to pay his last respects to his father but the Interior Minister had informed journalists that he alongside the DG of the Department of State Security, DSS had approached Col. Dasuki (retd) with the government’s offer that he could visit his sick father while in hospital. 

EMBATTLED FORMER NSA, SAMBO DASUKI

The offer was turned down by Sambo Dasuki who reportedly was said to have informed that he would pray for his father from wherever he was and again, when news broke about the passing of the late Sultan and the offer extended to allow him participate in the burial and be with his family and siblings, the detained former NSA declined.

This was the response of the Interior Minister, Abdulrahman Dambazzau to inquiries if the government was not trying to extract its pound of flesh from the former NSA who, it could be recalled, was part of the group of young army officers that effected the arrest of Muhammadu Buhari while he was the Military Head of State in ‘85 following a military coup lead by Ibrahim Gbadamosi Babangida.

After the arrest of Buhari in 1985, he was detained by the junta and was reportedly refused the opportunity to go visit his sick mother in hospital and when she eventually died, again he was not allowed to pay his last respects.

Is this time for vendetta? Nigerians are waiting to get the truth as only Col. Sambo Dasuki will give the true report when he eventually regains his freedom.

How soon this will be remains to be seen as he is yet to be arraigned before a Court of competent jurisdiction despite an ECOWS Court directing the Nigerian Government to arraign him or allow him free.

Nigerians are waiting for the return of President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently away to Morocco on official engagements.
