CONSCCIMA ELECTS NEW OFFICERS

CONSCCIMA, a Regional Organized Private
sector (OPS) body, with headquarters in Kaduna, is made up of the Chambers of
Commerce in the 19 States of Northern Nigeria and FCT, Abuja.
The election of the new Executive
Officers which was conducted during its 35th Edition of Annual
General Meeting (AGM) held at the Royal Tropicana Hotel, Niger Street, Kano on
Friday, November 18, 2016 saw the emergence of the new leaders.
In a press statement issued and signed by Ahmed Usman, the Director General of CONSCCIMA and a copy made available to NAIJNEWSALERT,
the
following officials were elected to see to the running of the affairs of the
organization for the next two-2 years.
For the position of Chairman,
Hajia Saratu Iya Aliyu of Kaduna state emerged winner while Alhaji Jinjiri
Abubakar from Yobe state Chambers was elected 1st Deputy Chairman.
Giving her acceptance
speech, the Chairperson-elect thanked the immediate past Chairman of the
organization, Alhaji Abdullahi Suleiman, mni, other members of the Executive
Council and the Board of Trustees (BoT), under the able leadership of His
Excellency, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar, mni MON (Sardaunan Ringim), the Executive Governor of Jigawa State for
keeping and maintaining the tempo towards ensuring that the Private Sector is
properly positioned in the scheme of economic activities in the Country.
She urged members of CONSCCIMA
“not
to relent in their individual and collective efforts in impacting on the
socio-economic climate of our region and the Country, by making the Private
Sector assume the status of being the major employer of labour and economic
catalyst for development and social harmony.”
Others elected are: Alhaji Wada
Yunusa, Vice Chairman, Finance (KADCCIMA), Mr. Tony Ejinkeonye Vice Chairman,
Bi-lateral relations (Abuja), Dr. Alimi Bello Vice Chairman, Manpower
Development (KADCCIMA), Alhaji Abubakar Sauki Vice Chairman, Govt-Chamber
Relations (Kebbi), Arc. Asema Achado Vice Chairman, Agriculture (Benue), Akhaji
Umar F. Rabiu from Kano state is the Vice Chairman, Commerce.
Also elected are: Dr. Umar Ahmed
from Niger state emerged Vice Chairman, Membership, Chief (Dr.) Hezekiah O.
Adedeji from Kwara is the new Vice Chairman for Industry while the Vice
Chairman for Tourism is Alhaji Ibrahim Linco Ocheje from Kogi state.
Last on the list is Elder Bulus
Dareng from Plateau state is Vice Chairman of Solid Minerals.
Hajia Saratu Aliyu who also doubles as the 2nd Deputy President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of
Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA in her mission statement for the organization
within the period of her tenure, promised that her focal points will rest on
the following key main areas; without prejudice to what her predecessors
started:
· Re-strengthening of Micro, Small, Medium Enterprises (MSMEs)
through partnership programs and pursuing windows of opportunities with
Government Agencies and Development partners.
· Strengthen the internal working capacity of our City and State
Chambers with the view to making them assume their establishment status in line
with contemporary Chamber of Commerce Management.
· Establish working synergy with the Northern Governors Forum (NGF)
as the surest way to providing succour to the citizenry.
The Director General, Ahmed Usman while speaking with NAIJNEWSALERT
in his office recently, explained that CONSCCIMA is positioned to address some of the needs and challenges
being observed and enjoined every member of the Private sector to collaborate
with the body in actualizing its set goals.
