DELTA STATE HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY: Committed and Focused……...Hon. Ivwurie
A member of the Delta State House of Assembly, Honourable Evance Ivwurie representing Ethiope East Constituency has described the assumption that the state lawmakers relocated to Labour House as wicked, malicious and diversionary.
Ivwurie made this disclosure while addressing journalists in Asaba
According to to the lawmaker, his colleagues did not relocate to Labour House for sitting as reported in certain media outfits which he described as “unfair” or “biased” news reports.
Delta State lawmakers can’t be distracted, he said.
Honourable Ivwurie who is the Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources stated that the Committee held a Public Hearing at Labour House”.
Putting the records straight, he said the Delta State House of Assembly adjourned on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 and that the lawmakers are yet to resume sitting.
The Committee Chairman revealed that they had received a warning that participants will be embarrassed by the striking workers and the withdrawal of those saddled with logistics responsibilities in the assembly compelled the committee to make alternative arrangement.
“The Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources executed its oversight function of carrying out a Public Hearing on a Bill to regulate Nomadic Catttle Rearers (Fulani herdsmen) operations across Delta State” he said.
“The Public Hearing was chaired by the member representing Ethiope East Constituency, Hon. Evance Ivwurie. There was a big crowd in attendance including Hon. Daniel Mayuku, Hon. Samuel Mariere, Hon. Reuben Izeze, Hon. Emeka Nwaobi, Royal Father's, representatives of law enforcement agencies, ministries in the state, community leaders, pressure groups, local government chairmen, intellectuals and victims of Fulani herdsmen. The hearing started at 12noon and ended at 3; 40pm” he added.
