POLITICS: APPEAL COURT DECLARES SHERIFF AS PDP CHAIRMAN....Danjuma Calls For Calm

Following the judgement delivered Friday by the Court of Appeal, sitting in Port Harcourt whereby the ruling by a 2-1 vote by the Justices, declared Senator Ali Modu Sheriff as the duly recognized chairman of the People's Democratic Party, PDP, majority of the members have expressed their dissatisfaction with the judgment.

Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki has described the ruling as a rude shock to majority of the PDP members and supporters.

Speaking to NAIJNEWSALERT on the phone, Danjuma restates that all hope is not lost for the party in the face of available options to be explored for justice to not only be done to the real PDP members, but to be seen to be done.

He told the teeming PDP supporters that; “it behoves on us all to remain calm and strong as the judgement was not a unanimous decision”.

“It is obvious that the judgement of the two of the three justices of the court was nothing but a travesty and miscarriage of justice. The minority judgment delivered by the other justice was apt, factual and just. She buttressed that the National Convention of the party is the supreme organ of the party therefore any decision taken by it is valid and should be obeyed by all. In her final submission she concluded by saying that the judgements of the other justices were nothing but fallacies”, he said.

According to Comrade Danjuma Sarki, “it is apparent that this judgment cannot stand the test of time”.

“It is obvious that, the series of postponement of the judgement day by the Court of Appeal Port Harcourt Division was highly suspicious and left much to be desired”, Danjuma added.

Asked if the PDP would challenge the decision of the Court of Appeal, Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki stressed that, “in line with the pursuit of justice and the wishes and aspirations of the members of the PDP, the leadership of our party will certainly head to the Supreme Court on this matter and would file for accelerated hearing”.

Danjuma further disclosed that, “the caucus of our great party shall sit soon to further discuss other options to put this matter to rest”.

He prayed for God’s help us to triumph over anti-democratic forces insisting that this one too shall pass.
