Embattled Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission, Ibrahim Magu who appeared before the Senate Wednesday following his
renomination by the President as the substantive Chairman of the
Anti-corruption agency, has once again been rejected by the members of the 8th
Senate citing damning reports from the Department of State Security, DSS.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki in his address, stated: “Let me
first of all thank all of you on your contribution on this matter and the way
the matter was carried in an open and transparent manner”.
“What we are seeing here is democracy at work. I believe that what
we have done on our own part, we have followed the constitution and due
process. And we hope that the Executive will quickly act and bring in a new
name as soon as possible so that the activities of the agency are not deterred”.
