The name; Great Ovedje Ogboru has continued to evoke fear and anxiety in the political space in Delta state as he is one politician whose presence and political sagacity gives severe discomfort to his political adversaries.

With political shenanigans poised to thwart his every efforts at providing genuine and true leadership for his people, devoid of tribe and ethnicity, Ovedje Ogboru, a man fondly referred to as the “Peoples General”, has remained defiant in his quest

and this has seen many forces aligning to scuttle this dream.

Since joining forces with the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, there are strong indications that Ogboru’s candidacy is simply the antidote that is required to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP which has held on to power in Delta state, these past 18 years. Will the APC hierarchy recognize the enormous support Great Ovedje Ogboru enjoys in the state? This is food for thought for APC.

It is no longer news that the PDP in Delta state is factionalized especially when one looks at the situation at the national level and also in many states of the federation where two groups are claiming control and awaiting the decision of the Supreme Court; the Senator Ali Modu Sheriff that of Senator Ahmed Mohammed Makarfi Caretaker Committee are looking up to the Apex Court for resolution.

Therefore, for the APC in Delta, this is time to key in and take its place as many have continuously expressed disenchantment with the level of impunity and flagrant waste of the resources of the state, with workers not being paid salaries as at when due. Stakeholders have expressed concerns with the slow level of infrastructural and human development and the level of poverty being witnessed in Delta state; a state that ranks among the first five (5) in terms of wealth from oil resources and allocations from the federation account running into several billions of naira monthly.

A peep into the APC’s notables for who could truly match the government in terms of popularity and acceptability, one could only come up with the name of Olorogun Great Ovedje Ogboru; the “Peoples General”, as he has cut his teeth politically and enjoys wide and unalloyed support from the good people of Delta state, going deep and far, into the very base of his political opponents.

Will the APC do the needful and give this political heavyweight their backing? The choice remains that of the leadership of the APC.

Some are of the myopic view that the “Peoples General” did not begin the journey right from inception of the APC and have failed to understand that; the journey and quest to wrest power from the PDP is not just for the swift, but for the best and very popular who is strong at heart. That is what Great Ovedje Ogboru stands for; a trusted and true leader whose acceptability and understanding of the people cannot be equaled.

The time to take away sentiments is now and who else to support than Great Ovedje Ogboru for the emancipation of the good people of Delta state for a better tomorrow.
