FATHER, STRIKES 7YRS OLD SON TO DEATH IN RIVERS

It was wailing and weeping for the residents of the Garden City of PortHarcourt in Rivers state as a 7 year old boy was struck to death by his father.

Little George, as he was fondly called, was reported to have been hit with a hard object by his father and he reportedly slumped and died by the time he was rushed to the hospital.

Police sources in PortHarcourt have since confirmed the death of the 7years old.

The man, simply identified as Inimgba, according to neighbours, was always in the habit of neglecting little George Tamunoibuemie and having him fend for himself most of the day and leaving him hungry.

One of the neighbours; a female who did not want her name on print disclosed that the "killer father hardly pays any attention to the kid and would abandon him for days, leaving the 7 years old boy hungry".

"Only days before the tragic and unfortunate incident, Thursday last week to be precise, I had bought a pencil for little 'George' for his use at school only to hear that the little boy died on Saturday after being struck by the father".

Amidst tears, she said; "that Thursday, I saw little in a shop with people gathered around him".

"They claimed that the little boy stole doughnut and everybody was blaming his father who they claimed was not giving him food and that must have been the reason the boy stole the doughnut".

"The people also said the little boy was being maltreated by his father and step-mother as there were scars all over his arms and body".

"The owner of the shop even gave him more doughnuts and soft drink".

"I took him to my apartment and talked with him. He was quite an intelligent kid and he told me so much about the treatment being meted out on him by his father and step-mother".

"After our talk, I bought him a pencil, biscuits and took his photograph with a promise that I would come and see his father. Due to my tight schedules, I couldn't make the visit as intended only to wake up today (Saturday) to hear about his death, in the hands of the man he calls, father".

Reports reveal that the "killer" father in his statement claims that; "I only beat am small".

The corpse of the little George Tamunoibuemie" has since been deposited at the morgue while the father and step-mother are said to have been detained by the police.
