CAA AFRICAN ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP KICKS OFF WEDNESDAY 1ST AUGUST, 2018 IN ASABA.

Delta state Governor, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, has assured participating countries and officials of a pleasant stay in his state during and after the competition.

A statement by Barrister Fred Oghenesivbe, Esq. (LOC Media) and Executive Assistant on Communications, which was made available to Naij News Alert in Asaba, noted that, there is a great deal of difference between a good leader and a leader whose conscience is dead and buried.

"One is a proactive and goal oriented while the other is a merciless looter", Oghenesivbe stated.

"Chief James Ibori, is a leader with conscience as can be seen from his landmark projects and long lasting infrastructure development in the state".

"He spread dividends of democracy to the three senatorial districts and raised young men and women who are today credible leaders and high profile politicians", the LOC Media head pointed out.

As a good and close political associate of Chief Ibori, the  incumbent governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, knew well ahead that the best legacy in governance is to build people, put in place  enduring infrastructure and grow existing political structures.

"From day one in office, Gov. Okowa vowed to God Almighty that he will serve the people with a clean heart and write his name in gold; as one of the democratically elected governors in Delta State,. Today,  he is about the best governor in the area of human capital development; built and still building solid socioeconomic infrastructure and certainly shall be remembered for job and wealth creation for thousands of youth across the three Senatorial districts of South, Central and North after his tenure on May 29, 2023, by the Grace of God".

It follows that the long abandoned Stephen Keshi International Stadium which Deltans already wrote off, suddenly received resurrection anointing through the purposeful Smart Agenda vision of the "Smart Governor" of the state.

"Today, Stephen Keshi Stadium stands out as beautiful masterpiece,  ranked among the best sports arena in the continent of Africa'.

"It's first major event shall commence on Wednesday 1st August and run through to Sunday 5th August, 2018, as Delta host the 21st Edition of Confederation of African Athletics African Senior Championship. All is now set and the much awaited D-day is here".

Governor Okowa,  while hoisting the flags of participating countries, assured athletes, officials and visitors of a pleasant stay in Asaba, the state capital and beyond.

He said adequate security measures are in place to ensure that everyone enjoys the great hospitality which Deltans and residents of Asaba are known for, adding that God has been gracious and merciful from the planning stage to the successful reconstruction of the stadium.

"Asaba is already agog for the 21st African Athletics Senior Championship. Our guests and athletes have started arriving and as at the last count, 52 out of the 54 participating countries, are already on ground, safe and sound in Asaba".

"Deltans are in excellent mood and have done the needful to become the best host ever in the history of the Championship", Gov. Okowa assured.
