DELTA 2019: :I HAVE WHAT IT TAKES TO LEAD DELTA STATE TO GLORIOUS HEIGHTS:....HELEN ONOKITI TELLS DELTANS
“If
I emerge as the Governor of Delta state, come 2019, I will work for the good of
my people and will make them understand that we can diversify into other viable
sectors that will generally improve our economy and individual lives”…….Helen
Onokiti
A
gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the Advanced Peoples' Democratic Alliance,
APDA, Chief (Mrs.) Helen Onokiti, is not a new face in the political space of
oil rich Delta state following her numerous contributions to the development
and well being of her people in the state.
Speaking
with Emmanuel Onotevure, Editor-In-Chief of Naij News Alert recently in Abuja, Hon.
Onokiti disclosed that her decision to run for the exalted office of Governor
of Delta state is borne out of her strong conviction that she has what it takes
to deliver quality democratic dividends to the good people of the state and
bring about the desired economical and developmental growth that the state
truly deserves.
“It
is high time a woman is given the opportunity to lead the state as women are
better managers of resources and people”, she stated.
According
to the APGA gubernatorial aspirant, “we focus our resources and economy
elsewhere and all we do understand in Delta state is oil and gas but, I will
make them understand that we can go into agriculture. Also, if given the
opportunity and support, I create quality job opportunities for the women and youths
in the state and attract sustainable development for my people”.
“Other
areas that will receive my attention are provision of social amenities, roads,
and infrastructures that will make life more meaningful to the citizenry”, the
very compassionate politician stated.
On
her thoughts for the women folk and not excluding the youths who are her
immediate constituents and to ensure that women and youths are adequately
catered for, Hon. Onokiti has this to say:
“The
society we live in today sees the average woman, irrespective of her education
or social standing, as only fit for the kitchen. That is a wrong perception and
we must strive to change the narrative for a better and developed society which
will accommodate all”.
“Empowerment
and creating skills acquisition programme for the women and youths in the society
will get top priority attention as these are key factors to the success of any
government or administration”.
“If
I Emerge as the governor of Delta state, come 2019 I will make them understand
that there is so much a woman can contribute in moving the state forward”, she
said.
