EFCC: REPORT EVERY SUSPICIOUS TRANSACTION".…. Magu Tells Bureau de Change Operators in Kaduna
In its quest to eradicate corruption in the society, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has called on Bureau De Change Operators in the country to support the agency and the Federal Govt achieve success.
This was the appeal of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibrahim Magu in Kaduna on Tuesday while addressing operators of Bureau De Change at a meeting held at the EFCC Zonal Office.
Magu, in his address, said the Commission will not hesitate to prosecute any Bureau de Change operator involved in assisting in illicit financial transactions.
He warned Operators to stop aiding corrupt practices, as he vowed to prosecute anyone found wanting even as he called on the operators to report all suspicious transactions immediately.
"You should also report any suspicious or any illicit transaction by any body including politician most especially during this election period", he stated.
It would be recalled that, the anti graft agency is determined to ensure that spendings by the political class, do not exceed the approved levels as enshrined by the laws of the electoral acts and also, checkmate cases of money laundering.
Chairman of the Bureau de Change operators in Kaduna, Alhaji Dalhatu Jumare, while responding to Ibrahim Magu, expressed the association's readiness to work with the EFCC in the fight against corruption.
"The fight is not only for the Commission, but for all Nigerians", Alhaji Jumare noted.
It would also be recalled that, through the patronage of the Bureau de Change operators across the country, many illicit transactions have been carried thereby making the job of the agency difficult to combating illegal transactions and corrupt practices. Therefore, supporting the EFCC achieve its mandate, is a task for all.
