Olomu Kingdom Begins Rite Of Passage For Departed Monarch, Ohworode in Delta

"The departed monarch, Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom; a "knowledge" and "pragmatic" man..... God granted him the ability to live long. The Kingdom will really miss him." Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN.

The Olomu Kingdom in Ughelli South Local Government Area, Delta State, Monday, began activities for the final rite of passage of the Ohworode of Olomu Kingdom, HRM (Dr.) Richard Layeguen Ogbon Ogoni-Oghoro I, JP. 

The activities began with the paying of homage by Eyanvwien Ruling House.

The Akpile (Prime Minister) of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Albert Akpomudje SAN said they did well by beginning with the homage by the Eyanvwien ruling family stressing that it is just the significance of the ceremony. 

He added that whether you are from a ruling house or not, all we want from Olomu Kingdom is peace."

The renowned legal practitioner described the departed monarch as a "knowledge" and "pragmatic" man pointing out that God granted him the ability to live long. He said, "The Kingdom will really miss him."

The President-General of Olomu Kingdom, Olorogun Moses Taiga, said the significance of the day is, "the transitioning of our noble King, Not for only today but for this period."

The Immediate past President-General of Urhobo Progress Union, UPU Worldwide pointed out the departed monarch is not only a king for the Olomu people, but also president of Urhobo traditional Council and a worldwide King.

"We are transitioning him to the great heavens as many many people lived up to 106years. So, we reverred such people, hence we are here today united to pay him homage.

"The summary of what is happening is that we are united. Both the Eyanvwien, Oghoro and the Uhurie Ruling Houses are one. That is why you see all the Olomu sons and daughters present here."

Olorogun Samuel Oboramohwoyeren, Chairman Eyavwien Ruling House in a chat with newsmen, said they began the ceremony with the homage.

He said the departed monarch "lived a well deserved life" stressing that they had to pay him that respect.

Olorogun Oboramohwoyeren urged all Olomu sons and daughters to emulate the departed monarch as well as maintain the existing peace in Olomu Kingdom. He pointed out that, "Papa was a peaceful man."

Our Correspondent who monitored the activities reports that a praise and crusade was also organised as parts of the event.

The Eyanvwien Ruling Houses comprise of Akperhe-Olomu, Okpavuerhe-Olomu, Ophori and Oviri-Olomu Communities.

The cultural dance groups from Okpavuerhe-Olomu, Ophori-Olomu and Udje dancers from Oviri-Olomu entertained guests.
