BREAKING: Former Kaduna PDP Chairman Arrested; Whisked To Abuja
With barely five days to the Presidential elections across Nigeria, the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has within 48 hours raised an alarm over what it described as a failed attempt to intimidate and harass its leadership through arrests.
The Kaduna chapter of the PDP, in a statement issued and signed by Comrade Danjuma Bello Sarki on Monday in Kaduna, drew the attention of the general public to his earlier warnings of a plot by the Kaduna state government to arrest top chieftains of he PDP before the Saturday, 16th Presidential elections.
According to Sarki, who is the Deputy Director General, Kaduna state PDP Campaign Organisation, noted that the position of the party has been confirmed following the arrest of Alhaji Audi Yaro Makama by the police.
"It is a confirmation of our earlier statement that the Nasir el-Rufai/APC led government in Kaduna State is in a panic mode and have penned down names of 150 opposition figures in the state to be arrested in the last week of the election".
"We wish to inform the general public that Alh. Audi Yaro Makama, a former Chairman of PDP in Kaduna State has been arrested today by the police".
"Makama honoured an invitation by the Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State, only to be whisked away to Abuja".
"If you could recall, Makama's name is prominent among the list of those to be clamped down by the ruling government", Danjuma said.
"This is coming two days after the arrest of Ben Bako, the Director Media and Publicity of the PDP Campaign Organisation in Kaduna State".
"It is so obvious that the el-Rufai led government is jittery and terribly scared of the eminent defeat it is about to face come February 16th and March 2nd, 2019".
Danjuma however, warned that, the PDP members in the state wishes to make it abundantly clear that they ate not intimidated by arrest or intimidation.
"We wish to reiterate that, no amount of arrest, intimidation, harassment or trump up charges can deter our resolve to rescue, reunite and reconstruct Kaduna State".
"We wish to once more call on all our members and supporters not to despair but remain, calm, resolute and confident for the dark days shall soon be over". Danjuma stated.
