The political rivalry, acrimony and dichotomy between the core Owerri people and Mbaise people that make up Owerri Senatorial zone, is now giving way to a vibrant political unity after the election of Rt. Honourable Emeka Ihedioha, as the Governor of Imo state.
Before the 2019 General election in Nigeria, the revival of all the key socio-political groups and organisations of Owerri Senatorial zone; preaching a united front to get power to Owerri zone, was instrumental to the success of Ihedioha as the Governor of Imo state.
Recently in Kaduna, after the victory, the people have also resolved not to lower their guard but, to remain united in support of the government to deliver democratic dividends to the entire state.
Barr. Ojijeme Charles, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Owerri Senatorial zone and his Secretary, Johnny Ahiewe, with the supervision of Barr. Julius Iheanacho, the President of Imo state Indigenes Association, Kaduna state branch, conducted election for the new executives that will pilot the affairs of the Association for the next three years.
The following people were elected into various offices; President; Mazi Johnny Nwankwere, Vice President; Mazi Iyke Nwaogwugwu, General Secretary; Mazi Emma Akulewe, Assistant Secretary; Mazi Reginald Onwuchuruba, Treasurer; Mazi Livinus Opara, Financial Secretary; Ndubuise Paul.
Others are: PRO 1; Mazi Chibuzor Akabo, PRO 2; Mazi Olelewe Eusebius, Director of Socials; Mazi Kingsley Ihejirika, Provost; Mazi Patrick Nwaneri.
The new executives were advised to remain united and de-emphasize on those things that will bring disunity and rancour.
The President-elect thanked the elders and the Caretaker Committee and promised to take the Association to a higher level.
