BIRNIN GWARI WOMEN AND YOUTHS RAISE ALARM OVER SECURITY CONCERNS.
"We are becoming helpless"... BIGWOYOPSEC
With the reports of security challenges across the northwest region of Nigeria, a group of women and youths from Birnin Gwari Local Government of Kaduna state have raised an alarm, calling for a beef up of the security arrangements in their locality.
The group, under the auspices of Birnin Gwari Women and Youths For Peace and Security, BIGWOYOPSEC, representing the people of Birnin Gwari local Government, in a statement issued recently, has called on the state and the nation at a large, to come to their aid, following the situation they have come to find themselves.
The group, in the statement, said; "we wish to bring to the attention of the state and nation, the situation we have come to find ourselves in the last three months".
According to the group in the statement, "from May 29th to today July 29th, 2019, over 57 people have been killed by bandits in our villages and towns in Birnin Gwari local Government".
"We can also confirm that over 145 people have on several occasions, been kidnapped within the same time period".
The situation in Birnin Gwari is getting worse as our people cannot go to their farms and cannot even travel out of the local Government.
"We are suffering and dying everyday.
The Bandits in our Local Government are extorting money from our people and burning down villages that refused to cooperate with them", they lamented.
"We are becoming helpless", they cried out.
"The Security men sent to us are only visible in two villages and nowhere to be seen. The bandits kill and rape our women on a daily basis".
"We massively voted for the APC and particularly, Uba Sani who promised us to visit us regularly and help our IDP's and security groups".
"Since his election in March 2019, he has never ever set his foot in Birnin Gwari Local Government", they revealed.
"We only watch him on TV in the Senate and he has NEVER moved a motion on our situation".
"It pains us to only see our Senator on Social media commissioning a plaza in Kaduna North but he never deemed it fit to come and condole with us or even send some relief items".
"We would also like to remind the Distinguished Senator of the 20 Toyota Hilux that you promised to send us immediately you win".
The statement further disclosed that; "We also wish to bring to the notice of the Senator that your Birnin Gwari Constituency office is yet to take off as the office is always closed".
They called on the Distinguished Senator to urgently fulfill his promises in order to show some support for their people.
"Our people are dying,; please come to our aide. Visit us in Birnin Gwari so that we can feel your impact".
They therefore, urged their representative to immediately come to their support.
