GARKIDA ATTACK: Fintiri Visits NEDC.... Gets Promise of Support
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa state has declared that his administration will not leave anything to chance until Adamawa is secured against the menace of Boko Haram.
Governor Fintiri made this known while speaking at the North East Development Commission in Abuja.
According to a post by the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Adamawa state Governor, Mr. Love Zidon, the visit by the His Excellency to the NEDC is coming few days after Boko Haram insurgents had invaded Garkida town of Adamawa state, leaving in its wake, a devastation described by Governor Fintiri as not seen before.
According Mr. Zidon in his post, "Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was at the commission to seek support towards rebuilding the community where Military and Police facilities have been destroyed as well as the only hospital and worship places".
Fintiri appealed to the Commission to open a trauma centre in Garkida for Phycosocial support to the affected community.
"As a first step towards enhancing security in the state, Government has presented 10 new land cruiser vehicles to the Military besides 50 earlier provided in support of operation Farauta a joint Security Outfit/ team", the Governor said.
Chairman of the Commission, General Paul Tarfa said the NEDC will not hesitate in doing the needful, promising support in any way possible towards the return of peace in the troubled north east.
He promised to send a delegation to Garkida to assess the level of damage for possible assistance.
