RIVERS STATE PDP CONGRESSES: APC Chieftain Blasts Secondus Over Undemocratic And Autocratic Congresses.
……. Says all those who betrayed Amaechi will end up in
political wilderness.
.... Commends Governor Wike, PDP Leadership and members of
the party for the peaceful conduct of the Congresses, not minding the
undemocratic nature and overwhelming shortcomings of the exercise.
The
just concluded Congresses of the Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic
Party has been described as a sham, charade and an enthronement of the will
power of Governor Wike.
This
was the revelation of Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All
Progressive Congress, APC wherein, he disclosed that nobody was allowed to
contest for any of the positions, unless listed and approved by the Governor of
Rivers state, Barr. Nyesom Wike.
According
to Chief Eze, “such an exercise cannot, for all intents and purposes, be
termed a Congress, but a mere demonstration of impunity and an open display of
undemocratic and autocratic governance”.
The
APC chieftain made this known in a statement made available to media houses in
Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital on Tuesday.
Chief
Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People's
Democratic Party (nPDP), highlighted that Senator Sam Anyanwu, the Chairman of
Rivers State PDP Elective Congress Panel exposed the illegality of the exercise
when he postulated that "39 Party positions were listed with 39 officials
picking forms for each of the post. The entire 39 officials were elected
unopposed", showing that those elected were handpicked even before the election.
“Can
anybody in his right sense accept such charade and Kangaroo Congresses, where
people were prevented from freely contesting and testing their popularity at
the polls as being democratic?, he queried.
“But,
as sad as this could be, it beats ones imagination to believe that the National
Chairman of PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, who was prevented from nominating even a
single official in his ward, will describe the fraudulent exercise as
transparent”.
Eze
further pointed out that the Congresses have only one aim; which is to throw in
an Ikwerre candidate for the 2023 gubernatorial election.
According
to Eze in the statement, “the key officers of the new State Working Committee
of the party with Ambassador Desmond Akawor; a former Nigerian Ambassador to
South Korea and who is regarded as a seasoned administrator, was elected as the
new Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State. Coming from
Oyigbo Local Govt Area; a place not favourable to PDP in the past elections and
located in the South East Senatorial Zone, is a deliberate calculation to rule
out Senator Magnus Abe or any Ogoni man from the PDP ticket come 2023”.
He
noted that, “to ensure that Wike's plot for 2023 is a success, four of the main
offices of the new SWC were zoned to the strongholds of the Ikwerres, namely:
Deputy
Chairman - Obio/Akpor
Treasurer
- Port Harcourt
Legal
Adviser Obio/Akpor
Woman
Leader - Ikwerre
Youth
Leader - Emohua.
The
former scribe of the defunct nPDP revealed that, with the emergence of Akawor
as the PDP Chairman, it has put a lid on the promise made to Chief Allwell
Onyesoh.
He
pointed out that the promise to Onyesoh was that, “should he decamp to the PDP,
his emergence as state Chairman will be automatic and that he would take over
from Brother Felix Obuah, as the CEO of the money making Sanitation Committee
of the State, not minding the high ranking of Onyesoh in the politics of Rivers
State”.
“With
the situation where he was not allowed to make any input even at his Ward, is a
good proof to Onyesoh and his cohorts that Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi,
whom they have tried in vain to label as undemocratic, is truly a Saint”, Eze
said.
Eze
postulated that the election or rather selection of the PDP Chairman from the
South East Senatorial Zone, where Senator Magnus Abe hails from marks an end to
his PDP gubernatorial ambition, as it is settled that APC is no longer an
option for him.
He
described Governor Nyesom Wike as a political wizard who has the strategy on
how to retire seasoned and key politicians from Rivers State and place them as
members of his cathedral that follows him around as sheep without any direction
or vision.
Eze
described as disastrous and scary, Hon. Igo Aguma's vindictive plot against an
innocent man like his mentor and benefactor, Rt. Hon. Dr. Rotimi Chibuike
Amaechi, stressing that he has ruined his political career, having secured no
place in the PDP.
“With
the conclusion of the PDP Congresses without any input or consideration of the
trio of Abe, Onyesoh and Aguma they are now left in the political wilderness
without any body to complain to except probably to themselves for attempting in
vain to blackmail the man that brought them to political limelight”, he media
guru pointed out.
Not
minding that Governor Wike used the trio of Abe, Onyesoh and Aguma to decimate
the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, Eze is full of praises for Wike
on how he managed to cow and silence them amid the undemocratic tactics
deployed during the just concluded Congresses of PDP in Rivers State.
With
the exit of this trio from the APC, Eze urged members of the APC to unite and
reposition the party for the challenges of wrestling power from PDP, whose
mission and vision for Rivers State is inimical and unacceptable to the
building of Rivers State of our dream.
