DELTA POLICE BOSS VISITS TO DESOPADEC...Seeks Collaborative Efforts In Crime Prevention

This was the assertion of the Delta State Commission of Police, Mr. Ari Mohammed Ali during a courtesy visit to the Management of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, under the leadership of Bashorun Askia Ogieh on Friday, 18 March at the Commission's headquarters.
According to the Delta Police boss, "policing, as a matter of fact has become involved with the community. That is to say that policing cannot be done today without collaborative efforts, without synergy and without symbiotic relationship with other members of the public and corporate bodies like DESOPADEC", he stated.
During his visit, CP Ali requested for urgent assistance for the provision of operational vehicles for his Command in order to curtail criminal activities and to cope with adequate patrolling in the State.
He disclosed that his visit was to familiarize himself, not only with the MD/CEO but also, to interface with the entire management and staff of the Commission, on the need to seek for collaborative initiative of providing assistance to the police.
He said that the Police Command had many areas of needs and that he wanted DESOPADEC to come to its aid, especially in the rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings in Warri Area Command and provision of operational vehicles for effective patrolling, in order to take security to the highest level in the State.
Responding, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, informed the Police Commissioner, Mr Ali, that DESOPADEC has had a robust relationship with the Police Command over the years which, according to him has culminated in having a standing police unit in DESOPADEC that has been most effective in the provision of adequate security in the Commission.
While emphasizing on the need to sustain and further grow that robust relationship, the DESOPADEC helmsman promised to ensure that the request of the Police Commissioner for operational vehicles and other needs would be adequately addressed by the Commission, once the issue of oil glut in the economy and the Covid-19 imbroglio are resolved.
“Your visit is one of a kind, because of the warm cordial relationship we have enjoyed over the years", Askia Ogieh stated.
He assured the Police that relationship between the NPF and the Commission will grow further through putting the machinery in motion, to begin the building of the Police Commissioner’s residence, in no distant time.
The DESOPADEC boss used the
opportunity of the visit to enjoin and encourage everyone to take the covid-19 vaccine, which according to him, has been most effective.
Bashorun Ogieh commended the Police Commissioner and his team for their efforts in reducing the crime rate in the State.
The Police Commissioner also used the opportunity of his visit to present an award of excellence to the MD/CEO.
