WAR AND INSECURITY: WHO WILL LEAD SPEAK AND STAND IN DEFENCE OF THE URHOBO NATION?... Sanco Ese

I will say this as a patriotic Urhobo man for once and thereafter, maintain my silence.

It is no more news that the federal policing system has failed almost beyond redemption in tackling insecurity in Nigeria. 

Some states and ethnic nationalities like the Igbo and Yoruba people are already taking proactive steps by setting up their own security network to fill the security vacuum in the face of armed robbery, cultism, banditry, attacks from Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen.

In all this, the Urhobos are the 5th major ethnic nationality in Nigeria yet we are maintaining a conspiratorial silence with no one to speak, lead and protect us as a people. 

May I remind us that the issue of class, ethnic and religious domination has been a recurrent decimal in the history of Nigeria.

For the records, the  Maitatsine religious uprising in the 1980s in the north caused the destruction of life and property just to further that same course and now, the Boko Haram insurgents are waging a religious war to enthrone Islamic theocracy not only in the north but also, in the southern part of Nigeria. It is their plan to instill fear in us, dominate us and live with us as a conquered people. 

Just recently, the Americans made a startling revelation that one of the most dreaded terrorist organizations in the world, the ISIS in collaboration with other terrorist groups in Nigeria are planning a coordinated attack against the people of southern Nigeria yet we are too dumb to take such highly classified intelligence report by the police of the world serious.

Is it not worrisome that every day, we witness the killing and slaughtering of our kith and kin by these bloodthirsty demons of war in our ancestral land yet we feel indifferent? We should also not forget that since we fail to plan when death will eventually come it will not come for only me; it will come for everybody including the high and mighty.

It is highly regrettable that some of our leaders still do not understand the seeming danger been posed by this killer herdsmen. The truth still remain incontrovertible that weather they feign ignorance or not, we are now at the mercy of some groups which rank among the first 5 terrorist organizations in the world.

Throughout history, it has been the inaction of those who could have acted; the indifference of those who should have known better, the silence of the voice of justice when it mattered most that has made it possible for evil to triumph.

The Urhobos are brave and courageous people and we will never succumb to any form of threat within and outside. Where are the Nnamdi Kanus? Where are the Sunday Igbohos? Where are the Tompolos in Urhobo land? We do not need a soothsayer to tell us the drum of war is closer to us than imagined. It is time to come together to protect ourselves as a people. 

The truth is that I have a bad feeling and terrible premonition about what may happen in Nigeria in no distant time. We need to pray hard, ask God for mercy and ask Him to deliver us from what lies ahead.

May the sons of perdition, the children of the night, the strangers from a distant land and the alien hordes that feed on human flesh, drink human blood and derive their strength, courage and power from bestial acts of barbarity and savagery not plunge us into a horrendous and never-ending civil war that may not spare any of us.

I know many are uncomfortable with the lies that I expose and the truths that I speak. Yet, as long as I live, I shall NEVER stop opposing evil targeted against my people. I cannot be threatened or intimidated.
