The OSU Governorship Movement which I belong and which  was also mentioned in your write up is totally committed to its 2023 Governorship mandate, equity and development of its people. 

We do not crave for public validation of our people or group. The only thing we ask is that we should be allowed to have a shot at the number one seat just like the other two constituencies in Delta central Dazzol.

Now, in response to the legitimate but skewed concern made by the writer of the above captioned piece, I find it extremely compelling to educate her by setting the record straight. 

It is true that on May 29, 2023 a brand new Governor will take over from the incumbent Governor, His Excellency Dr Ifeanyi okowa,

It is true that not all those who have indicated their interest or are covertly nursing the ambition to be Governor possess the character of a Governor.

It is also true that the race is open to both the pretenders and the contenders.

I will not waste my precious time mentioning names of pretenders.

 I strongly agree with you that Chief David Edevwie, Chief of Staff Government House, Asaba, Chief James Augouye, Commissioner of Works, Rt. Hon Sheriff Oborewvori, Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Chief Kenneth Gbagi, former Minister of Education, Senator James Manager, Senator representing Delta South in the Senate, are likely contenders who may want to  occupy the number one seat come 2023. I have no problem with your permutation. 

Furthermore, in your own analysis, you said His Excellency, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan wanted his stooge, Chief Tony Obuh as a successor and was prepared to break the state vault to plant him as Governor.... that I cannot tell.

I totally agree with you when you said against all odds, our amiable Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa held on to his dream when he insisted that delegates should decide who should fly the flag of the PDP.

The lies I disagree with here is that His Excellency won the primaries because of the support of Anioma political leaders, Chiefs and traditional rulers. This is not only misleading but totally unfounded. 

Permit me to educate you on what actually transpired. The primaries which took place on December 6, 2014 was won by Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

However, you will recall that a few days and hours to the primaries, the name that was trending was that of Chief Tony Obuh as Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa's name did not feature highly on the list of aspirants favoured to clinch the ticket. His victory is as a result of the resolve of the delegates and the Delta State political super structure. 

Let me repeat for the purpose of emphasis that, until about 48 hours before the primaries, the thinking in the PDP was to run with the perceived compromise candidate of the party and former Permanent Secretary in the Delta state Government House, Chief Tony Obuh. 

My question now is that, at what point did the leaders, Chiefs and traditional rulers of Anioma meet to declare their support for Sen (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa?

Secondly, you did mention that apart from Chief Kenneth Gbagi who hails from the Ughelli Federal Constituency, nobody in Delta Central is financially strong enough to be counted. This is also true. The only other place we can find people who are also financially buoyant enough to run for the race in Urhobo land is Ethiope East Federal Constituency because, both Constituencies have each had the exceptional privilege of  producing the Governor of this state and they are better off for it, unlike the people of OSU Federal Constituency. 

Is it not laughable that in your own contemplation, the OSU Federal Constituency does not have billionaires despite their role and support  in ensuring the Ethiope and Ughelli Federal Constituencies produced Governors of this state?  

How do you explain the fact that 22 years of undiluted loyalty and support in producing Governors and contributing majorly to our commonwealth, no aspirant from OSU Federal Constituency is wealthy enough to contest as Governor come 2023?  

Is it not also laughable that Okpe Local Government, which is the oldest Local Government in OSU Federal Constituency, does not have a Bank, industries, Stadium and good road networks just like Ughelli and Ethiope Federal Constituencies?

Did you not notice the sudden transformation and massive  infrastructural development in Oghara, Mosogar, Udu and Ughelli while their sons held sway as number 1 citizens of the state? 

Is it fair that out of the 3 Federal Constituencies in Delta Central Senatorial Districts, the people of OSU Federal Constituency are targeted for only supportive roles while the other two constituencies are only good for Governorship positions?

Does it not occur to you that for equity, fairness and all round development the people of OSU Federal Constituency should be given the opportunity to govern the state in other to ensure even development across the state?

May I also remind you that in Nigeria politics as it is today, no independent man has ever emerged victorious in any contest. They are all products of a cabal within the system. At least, Buhari could not afford to buy his party nomination form yet he won the election and became President; I stand to be corrected.

The struggle in Delta politics, come 2023 is not basically between the two major parties namely, PDP and APC but between the older generation cum politicians and the younger generation of politicians. 

No doubt, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege is a strong character and possesses the qualities to become the Governor like you rightly posited but the truth is that, he can never win for two reasons.

First, he has been part of the old politicians who you seek to change. Secondly, Delta APC whose platform he intend to run is not on ground.

The Party is irredeemably divided and utterly unmarketable. In short, Delta APC is highly disorganised and pitiably disunited and uncoordinated. 

The perceived aspirants from OSU Federal Constituency represents the younger generations which we all crave for in Nigeria politics. 

If we make the right choice and elect a young, strong, decisive, clear headed, clear thinking, detribalised, level headed, restrained, sensitive, kind and compassionate bridge builder who is ready to do the right thing by building on the gains of this current administration and taking away, the pains of the people, then, the new Delta of our dream is just a stone throw.

As it is now, a call for OSU Governorship ticket is a call for equity and Justice, it is also a call for the younger generation to take over power because it is only in OSU federal constituency you can find  the youngest of them all.

Of all the aspirants you mentioned, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborewvori and Chief James Augouye represent the younger generation of politicians.

Sentiments apart, the OSU project is a divine mandate. Don't touch the dial!!
