A GENTLE AND HANDSOME MAN NEVER RETIRES : Aregbesola

The Minister of Interior Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in his address during the Pull out Parade of the 16th retiring CGI of NIS Muhammed Babandede mni, said that, President Muhammadu Buhari was the reason behind the effective and successful story of the Services of the  Nigeria Immigration which Nigerians are enjoying today. 

Aregbesola stated that, President Buhari's worthy Administration's integrity and due process got him a dedicated personality in Babandede as the CG of Immigration Service.

The Minister explained that he sought  for one year extension for Babandede when he assumed office as the Minister of Interior to enable him understand the Service  much better and he was not in any way  disappointed with the laudable innovations and digital development in the Nigeria Immigration Service today.

Aregbesola commended the CGI for his prompt and regular annual reports on his agency and quick response to complaints of Nigerians on the delay in the issuance of passports.  

He said that,  the Data system has made the application of Passport and Visa processing a lot more easier. 

He said that  Babandede has made great impact in the Nigerian Immigration Service with the introduction of the code of conduct for adequate data and Visa management system. 

He said the border protection and citizens integrity was also an achievement under his watch.

Aregbesola also commended the Nigeria Immigration Service for grooming to international best standard  a beautiful and dedicated Officer like Babandede  and other officers whose collaboration had enabled him achieve his goals in service. He prayed that God Almighty will continue to protect and keep him for his family as he exit the service of his father land. 

The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola commended all dignitaries and glorified God Almighty that made the day a reality.

Muhammed Babandede mni, who was the 16th Comptroller General of the Immigration Service, in his address appreciated all past CGIs, Government Functionaries, traditional rulers from Jigawa State and all dignitaries present. 

He said that, he gave glory to Almighty God for keeping him to see his exit in the Service of his nation, he commended his predecessors for their efforts that made and built him for the challenges and successes  in his stewardship.

He stated that the border reform initiative has helped the country to effectively protect the country, he said all international airports have been completely integrated and that Visa on arrival for African countries was established to strengthen the ties with other countries for EASE of doing Business that will  help boost our economy. 

He further explained that, Operational bases had been constructed and Will be Commissioned soon. 

He said all these digital development has taken immigration Services to a greater height that with just a click, you get every information you need from the immigration Services in Nigeria.

He said he had put his best into the service of Immigration. He enjoined the leadership to sustain, collaborate and continue with the good legacies he is leaving behind to be able to  attain  a global standard for the Nigerian immigration Services.

Babandede joined Immigration Service in September 1985 as Assistant Supretendent of Immigration. 

He became the Comptroller General of Immigration Service in 2016 when he was  appointed by the President Muhammadu Buhari led Administration to head the Service for better nation building. 

The colourful Pull out Parade ceremony was witnessed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib Belgore and Directors from the Ministry of Interior, Inspector General of Police, top  Government officials and people from all walks of life.
