Trending reports reaching this medium have it that a traditional ruler from Zamfara state, heading to the nation's Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, has been abducted by armed gunmen on Tuesday evening.
The traditional ruler, Alhaji Hassan Attahiru who is the Emir of Bungudu, in Zamfara state was reportedly traveling to Abuja in a convoy when the gunmen, according to sources, opened fire on them.
The sources further disclosed that, on demobilising the vehicles, the gunmen abducted the traditional ruler.
Security sources revealed that the incident occurred around 35 kilometres from Kaduna city which is around Olam Farms, the second largest farm in Africa.
Reports further revealed that, the location has become a dark spot on the Kaduna-Abuja expressway as it has become a very notorious area where bandits and armed gunmen operate freely.
A security expert based in Kaduna, Hamza Inuwa Bala has appealed to the Nigerian army and its sister security outfits to intensify coordinated patrols on the route especially around the Olam Farms up till Here in order to tackle the incidences of armed banditry and kidnapping that has made the area dreaded.
Bala further appealed to the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir Ahmed el-Rufai not to relent in his efforts at addressing the security challenges noting that, "evil cannot triumph over good".
He commended Governor el-Rufai for the exemplary leadership and dedication he has so far displayed in combating the challenges of insecurity and prayed that, in the end, his efforts will pay off in ridding the state and environs, of criminal elements.
