BANDITS ATTACK ABUJA-KADUNA BOUND TRAIN......Services Disrupted As Rail Track Blown Up.

The Kaduna bound train that left Abuja on Wednesday evening, that was reportedly attacked by armed bandits around the Dutse -Rijiana station in Kaduna State, has caused fears amongst travellers and residents in the state.

Reports reveal that, in an attempt to attack the train, the bandits were said to have laid explosives on the tracks which resulted in the Kaduna bound train damaged, resulting to its late arrival to the Rigasa station in Kaduna.

Travellers, on Thursday morning were stranded even as the Rigasa Station staff refused to disclose the exact situation to the passengers and continue the sales of tickets, which many viewed as a total rip-off.

The intending passengers which the Emir of Zazzau, prominent personalities and top ranking military officers, who, after confirmation from train station management, left the Rigasa Station few minutes after the arrival of the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Mr. Samuel Arunwa.

The stranded passengers became agitated when the information from the Station Management refused to pass on useful information on the true situation. Some therefore demanded for a refund of their monies when they were told that the train service would be suspended immediately, pending repairs.

Unconfirmed reports available, reveals that some vehicles that left for Abuja early Thursday, were allegedly atacked by armed gunmen along the Kaduna-Abuja route.

This situation has further created fears among travellers on the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway who have had to immediately cancel their trips.

A first-time traveller with the train services told this medium that this was his first time ever to take the Kaduna-Abuja train as he has always preferred travelling by road.

Another traveller who simply have her name as Medinat, said her children were supposed to have arrived Kaduna with the early morning train of Thursday which was why she had come to pick them up. Her anxiety grew when information filtered in that the train had challenges owing to damages caused. Her inability to reach them caused further panic.

Concerned stakeholders have lambasted the Federal Government for failing to end the menace of bandits in the country by deploying more military personnel to affected areas but would be quick to draft 34,000 policemen, soldiers and NSCDC personnel to states on election days.
