Governor Okezie Ikpeazu Acknowledges Efforts Of A Former Deputy Speaker Of First Abia State House of Assembly.

The Governor of Abia State, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, has expressed deep-rooted appreciation for the various efforts made by a former Deputy Speaker of first Abia State House of Assembly and Traditional Ruler of Isiala Ihie Autonomous Community in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area of the State, His Royal Highness Eze Sir, The Rt Honourable Johnson Elewemba Nnata Nwaguru, to accelerate social, political and economic development of Abia State and Nigeria.

Speaking at the funeral service held for the late Traditional Ruler at St Mark's Anglican Church, Ihie-Obeaku in Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, the Governor, represented by the Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Sir Don Ubani, noted with delight that it was through the legislative astuteness of late Eze Sir Johnson Nwaguru that Abia State Polytechnic was conceptualized while he was in the Abia State House of Assembly between 1992 and 1993, representing the good people of former Obioma-Ngwa West State Constituency.

The Governor also applauded the late Legislator and Traditional Ruler for his passion for research which took him to many countries of the World as the Chief Archivist in charge of National Archives, Enugu and which culminated in his book, ABA AND BRITISH RULE.

Governor Ikpeazu eulogized Eze Sir Johnson Nwaguru for his youth friendliness which was the reason why he gave employment to many Abia Youths while he was the Chief Archivist in charge of National Archives, Enugu.

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, while consoling the wife and children of late Eze Nwaguru, the people of Isiala Ihie Autonomous Community and the entire people of Ugwunagbo Local Government Area, assured that the State Government, under his watch, will not allow the efforts of her Heroes Past, like Eze Sir Johnson Nwaguru, to be in vain.

In his sermon, the Anglican Bishop of Aba Diocese, The Rt Reverend Christian Chiodoadigh Ugwuzor, who attested to the  commitment of the late Traditional Ruler to Christianity, fairness and justice enjoined Christians to have their faith strongly anchored in God Almighty. He urged Christians to always remember that every living being has a date set aside for him or her, just as Eze Sir Johnson Nwaguru's date is being witnessed and celebrated today. He, therefore, advised all Christians to be strong, courageous and righteous in the way of God.

Many top Government officials and dignitaries, including the Chairman of Ugwunagbo Local Government Council, Mrs Joy Nnata, Chief Chinwe Nwanganga who was the Chairman of the Burial Committee, Dr Ike Onyenwaku, the Dean of Faculty of Law of Abia State University, Prof Eze Ngwakwe and Second Deputy Chairman of Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, HRH Eze Harry Ugwuala, attended the burial service.
