PRAMBE YOUTHS PETITION ADAMAWA GOV…. Slams Rural Infrastructure Commissioner Over Construction Of Private Property Inside School Premises

A group, under the aegis of the Prambe Youth Development Association in Adamawa state, Northeast of Nigeria, has written a petition against a cabinet member of the Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri administration, Honourable Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, the Commissioner in charge of Rural Infrastructure and Community Development. 

The youth group, in its petition, have alleged that, Abdullahi Adamu Prambe, out of his greed and selfishness, has wrongfully acquired and recently, built a private house inside the premises of a government facility (that is within the premises of the Government Secondary School, Prambe), in Song Local Government Area.

According to the agitated youth association, Honourable Prambe has used his position and status in the Fintiri administration, to not only influence and bribe elders of the community to achieve his purpose and in the same vein, intimidate the people from speaking out against his actions.

The youth group stressed that, “as youths, we did everything possible and within every peaceful means, to resist the encroachment but our efforts did not yield the desired results due to our insistence to stay within the legal frame work”.

“Honourable Adamu Prambe did all of these atrocities, using his position and office knowing that people would be afraid to confront him over his action, that is, building a personal property within the confines and premises of a government owned educational facility/school.

“Honourable Adamu Prambe cannot claim to be ignorant of the fact that the said plot where he is developing is located inside the perimeters of the school or, the ownership of the land in question”, the youth association stated.

“The act of the Commissioner involves unjustifiable interference with land which is the immediate and exclusive possession of the Adamawa State Government. It is not necessary to prove that harm was suffered to bring a claim, and is instead actionable per se”.

The youth association opined that, “in most countries of the world, trespass to land is treated as a criminal offence which constitutes a misdemeanor, while in others, it may be a felony under certain circumstances especially when it affects school property”, the Prambe Youth Association noted in its petition.

The association further stated that, “In nigeria, the tenure and land defines trespass as ‘an offence committed directly and unlawfully by entering unauthorized land, projecting, erecting or placing and allowing things to hang over the land, remaining on the land, abusing right of entry and even unconsented parking, constitutes a violation of Land Tenure Act”.

The Prambe Youth Association in its petition, stressed that the Honourable Commissioner is operating under the office of the Governor and from the gravity of its claims, prayed that proper steps be taken to redress the anomalies. This, according to the Youth Group will check the rising crime wave and impunity in the country even as it observed that government officials, in several instances, have become more daring and equipped for their heinous business.

The Prambe Youth Association therefore urged the State Governor to immediately, institute a panel of Inquiry to investigate the matter with a view to ascertaining its claims.

Meanwhile, concerned stakeholders have expressed their disappointment with the Honourable Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Abdullahi Adamu Prambe for using his position and office to oppress his people and deprive them of their rights and privileges, tampering with the school property and bribing elders against speaking out.

The concerned stakeholders therefore called don the Executive Governor of the state, to immediately Wade in and prevent the breakdown of law and order.

They commended the youths of Prambe for the exceptional show of maturity, understanding and the use of dialogue to seek redress, from the appropriate authorities and not adopting a confrontational approach in resolving the issue.
