Residents of Nahuche community in zamfara state on Sunday, have appealed to the state Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle to come to their rescue against armed bandits that have made their lives a living hell.

The residents of the community made this appeal during a protest to the Government House following constant banditry attacks on the community, saying that the situation has remained the same despite spending over N200 million on ransoms and settling vigilantes.

Leader of the protesting group, Musa Abdullahi, while addressing journalists at the NUJ Press Ccentre in Gusau, the state capital, explained that a businessman named Alhaji Hadi Babban Gebe was abducted and the bandits killed him despite receiving N35 million as ransom.

“Then the bandits returned back to Nahuche community and kidnapped more people and demanded N5 million for their freedom. We contributed the money, waiting for their release but they demanded two Boxer motorcycles before they would release the victims.”

“And while we were still on negotiation with the bandits, they stormed the village again and abducted another group of people,” Abdullahi said.

Speaking further, “the community donated a huge amount of money to employ the services of some vigilante groups but the bandits continued to terrorize the community, saying that the villagers are tired of bandits’ constant attacks.”

Abdullahi, a former Bungudu local government chairman, disclosed that many villagers have fled the community due to constant attacks, stressing that the bandits have taken the community as their colony.

On why they had gathered at the Government House, he said the leaders of the community gathered at the Government House in Gusau, the state capital, to appeal to President Muhammadu Buhari to deploy military and police operatives to the village for adequate security.

He disclosed that the Governor has however assured them of taking appropriate actions against the ugly situation ravaging the area.
