LOOK TOWARDS ORPHANAGES AND VULNERABLE CHILDREN.... Senator Ajoku Tells Nigerians

Senator Eze Darlington Ajoku has appealed to prominent individuals and Nigerians generally, to look towards the vulnerable in the society.

Senator Ajoku, who the President of the Coalition of Orphanage and Children’s Home in Nigeria, COCHIN, made this appeal at the yearly get-together party organised for orphans and less privileged children, recently in Abuja on Wednesday, 12 January, 2022. 

According to Senator Ajoku, COCHIN, which is made up of about 40 different children’s homes, has been working hard to ensure that the children are well taking care of, including those with special needs among them, despite no form of support is coming from the government.

"The coalition has put in place, standardised policies and procedures in order to look after the children, and to ensure that there is no form of child trading, molestation, or anything that may be contrary to the good of the children." The COCHIN President told journalists at the event.

"We want a brighter and greater future for our children. Every parent has a plan for the good of the children and, since these children have become our own, we are doing everything within our powers to ensure we achieve this vision and also help them fulfil their dreams. For instance, I paid over N1m school fees for those of our children in Darlez Orphanage that resumed school for this 2nd term." He stated.

He therefore, called on Nigerians to support the work of orphanages in Nigeria. 

“We are calling on Nigerians to support the work of orphanages because these children are Nigerian children. Right now, we do not have any form of support from government, either FCT or FG. But we said to ourselves, if government does not arise to its responsibilities, as orphanage owners who decided to set up homes for less privileged children, we will give the children the best education and everything that will make them become important people in the society. 

"We are determined to make sure that these children have the best in life. We do not see these children as Orphans, we see them as extension of our own children.

“We have one of our orphanages made up of children with special needs, and there are a lot of such children on our streets. 
"I am appealing to well-to-do Nigerians to reach out to these children. Come join hands with us to enable us achieve the best on these children together, bearing in mind that we will not be buried with our money. Let us support those in needs, we will all be better for it. There are old people in rural areas who are suffering. Be your brothers’ keeper.”
