A Niger Delta Activist, Comrade Israel Joe today said the Civil Society Organizations,CSOs will join the protests to demand the sack of the Vice Chancellor of Delta State University, DELSU, Prof. Andy Egwunyenga from Governor, Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa if he refuses to reduce the hike in tuition fees for students of the institution.

This is contained in a statement Comrade Joe signed and made available to Our Correspondent.

While noting the harsh economic situation in the Country, Comrade Joe urged Nigerians to condemn in all its totality, the hike in the tuition fees with a view to restore the dignity of education in the State.

He said Prof. Egwuyenga, as an academician is supposed to ameliorate the sufferings of the students rather than worsening their conditions.

Comrade Joe noted that the CSOs are still monitoring and consulting on the matter.

According to Comrade Joe, "The Delta State University Vice Chancellor should understand that history will judge everyman according to their roles on earth and, posterity will not forgive anyone who made it a point of duty to increase the suffering of God's creatures in human.

"As an activist, I kept wondering the philosophy behind the increase of the DELSU school fees at a point when Nigerians are grappling with how to cope with this post COVID-19 losses."

It would be recalled that the Delta State University, DELSU recently increased tuition fees to two hundred and fifty thousand naira from fifty thousand naira.

The same applied to the Delta State University of Science & Technology, Ozoro (formerly Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro).
