With the preparations for the Primaries for elective positions for the general elections in 2023 just around the corner and the jostle for the Office of President, Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has warned against idea of threatening the good people of the southern region.

Nyesom Wike, only recently, declared that Nigeria will shake when the South finally makes its decisions concerning its likely candidate, as it pertains the 2023 presidential election, public.

Wike, who is known for his direct, frank and blunt manner of addressing issues, has also disclosed that "the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will only give its sole presidential ticket to a candidate who has the interest of Nigerians at heart.

The Rivers state Governor further said that, as the main opposition party, the PDP would not be browbeaten into surrendering its presidential ticket to selfish politicians who would serve only the interest of the wealthy few in Nigeria.

The PDP top chieftain who is said to be one of the major financiers of the party, made this know during a grand reception put together for him by the people of Kalabari ethnic nationality, held at the Abalama School field in Asari Toru Local Government Area on Saturday.

Kelvin Ebiri, Special Assistant to Governor Wike on Media in a statement, said that His Excellency, Barrister Nyesom Wike has reiterated that political leaders in the south will soon come out with their decision concerning the country’s number one position.

"The day the south will speak, Nigeria will shake. We believe in the unity of this country, but nobody can threaten us. Nobody should threaten us. We believe in the unity of Nigeria and unity of Nigeria must continue." Wike stated.
