DELTA 2023: Okowa Didn't Become Governor By Zoning Formular, So No Zoning In Delta, Ozobo insists

"All candidates should be allowed to contest the election." Amb. Ozobo

.... "Promises to support anyone who emerges the Delta Central. it is just interests. We may have to harmonize later."

The Special Assistant on Political Matters to the Delta State Governor, Amb. Austin Ozobo today said Sen. (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa did not become governor of the State through zoning formular just as he insisted that there is no zoning arrangements in Delta State.

Ozobo, who is also the National President of the Ijaw People's Development Initiative, IPDI made the assertion during a chat with Our Correspondent at the maiden launch/unveiling of Congress Newspaper held in Warri.

"I don't pretend. There is no zoning formular in Delta State."

He explained that over the years, aspirants from Delta Central and North Senatorial Districts had contested the governorship election when it was the turn of the Delta South Senatorial District.

"Whether we assume it to be Delta North turn, others from Delta South and Delta Central are contesting alongside."

Ozobo argued that the people of Delta Central Senatorial District came up with "Uvwiamuge Declaration" when it was the turn of Delta North Senatorial District to produce the governor in 2014, that all Urhobos must vote for Urhobo Candidate.

According to Ozobo, "This kind of thing does not show that there is zoning.

"Sen. (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa didn't come into government by zoning formular.

"Former Governor, Emmanuel Uduaghan picked somebody from Delta North who is late Mr. Tony Obuh to represent the Delta North turn.

"The Delta Central pressured him to abandon Tony Obuh and even when he was abandoned, they didn't allow him to pick another person from Delta North when we assume that it is Delta North. So, what's the zoning now?

"They forced him (Uduaghan) to adopt a candidate in Delta Central which ought to be Delta North. Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa didn't become by zoning formular."

Ozobo who is the National Secretary of the Conference for the Actualization of Human Right opined that all candidates should be allowed to contest the election.

He however said the people from Delta Central Senatorial District should not be seen as his enemies because of his opinions just as he promised to support anyone who emerges the Delta Central saying, "it is just interests. We may have to harmonize later."

Present at the event were the member representing the people of Burutu Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Julius Pondi, Hon. Godknows Angele, Chairman of Burutu Local Government Council, the Commissioner for Oil & Gas, Mr. Emma Ambadugba ably represented by Barr. David Ekerekosu, Barr. Eric Omare, former IYC Chairman, Barr.
