This was the assertion of Sefinatu Ohunene Umaru, a strong social media influencer and political associate of Malam Lawal Adamu Usman, winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Kaduna Central Senatorial District primary election, held on Tuesday, 24th May 2022

In her piece introducing the PDP candidate; a man described as an astute gentleman and philanthropist, Mr. LA, as he is fondly addressed by his ever teeming admirers and supporters alike, Sefinatu wrote;

One cold November evening in the city of Abuja, a child was born to the family of Alhaji Adamu Usman. He had his primary education at Demonstration School and his secondary education at Government Secondary School, both in Gwagwalada Abuja. He then proceeded to study Public Administration at the prestigious Ahmadu Bello University in the ancient city of Zaria. Where he graduated with a degree.

While in school (secondary and tertiary) the young man imbibed the entrepreneurial spirit from his father and engaged in agricultural and trading activities during holidays. He became so good at it that he was able to sustain and fund his tertiary eduction.

Upon graduation, he ventured fully in agricultural enterprise by setting up Haifa Farms in Kaduna. This venture produces maize in trailer loads as well as cattle and poultry.

In addition to farming, he runs a business management consulting firm, Sherpa Consultants, where he proffers solutions to Nigerian entrepreneurs.

As a compassionate son of Kaduna, he has played a significant role as philanthropist in the lives of residents of Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone.

During the lockdown necessitated by the  COVID 19 pandemic in 2020, donated foodstuff and palliatives worth millions to indigent residents. That was not one a time philanthropic activity as he continuously gives grants and support to individuals seeking to start micro and small scale businesses, conducts skill acquisition training for youth, operates a scholarship scheme that ensures indigent youth can attend secondary and higher institution, in addition to running a food bank.

This extraordinary man is no other than Alhaji Lawal Adamu Usman also known as Mr LA. He also happens to be a grass-root politician par excellence who seeks to represent Kaduna Central Zone in the Nigerian Senate come 2023.

 

Mr LA believes in addition to philanthropic endeavours, that the only way to feed a hungry man is not to only teach him how to fish, but create the enabling environment that will enable him fish effectively. It is with this mindset that he seeks to implement legislation that will help small businesses and agriculture as a senator. A boost in economic activities will not only feed people but create employment opportunities for the teeming and talented youth in the society.
