Notable grassroots politician and respected philanthropist, Malam Lawal Adamu Usman has emerged as the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District election, come 2023.

Popularly known as Mr. LA, the  PDP chieftain defeated five other contestants to emerge as the flagbearer of the PDP in the just concluded primaries, held late on Monday night. 

Mr. LA lead the pack with a total of 99 votes to defeat Ibrahim Usman, Sardauna Badarawa who emerged second with 84 votes.

Coming third, fourth and fifth in the contest were; Musa Bello, Inuwa Ahmed and Usman Muhammed with 43, 15, and 5 votes respectively.

The sixth person was Hajia Shehu Talatu with only two votes.

This result was as announced by the Electoral Committee on Tuesday morning by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Electoral Committee, of the National Assembly in Kaduna state, adjudged as free, fair and credible.

Journalists and political observers at the event, reported that the primaries began immediately after the accreditation of the delegates at 10:45pm.

Accredited delegates, drawn from 7 local government councils were 250 while the number of actual delegates that took part in the election were 248 with two absent.

Political Leaders, pundits and observers, commended the contestants for their political showmanship, especially the winner, Mr. LA who remained consistent and determined to secure the party's ticket for the Kaduna Central Senatorial District since 2019 where he lost to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Uba Sani in what many described as manipulated and twisted in favour of the APC candidate.
