The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development, has announced the immediate ban of the use of the football pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium Main Football for events other than national football engagements.
A statement issued and signed by Mohammed Manga, Director of Press and Public Relations Department of the Youth and Sports Development Ministry, on behalf of the Honourable Minister, disclosed that the purpose of the directive was to keep the pitch in good enough shape for international sporting engagements for national teams.
According to Manga, "In order to keep the main pitch of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in good enough shape for use for international matches of the national teams, the Honourable Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare has directed that the stadium be closed to usage by club sides for any domestic competition.
"The Stadium will henceforth be used only for matches involving the national teams.
"This directive takes immediate effect, 06th June, 2022." The statement conluded.
