INSECURITY: KADUNA POLICE COMMAND FOILS KIDNAP, RESCUES 8 ..... Neutralizes Two Bandits, Recovers Weapons

Operatives of the Kaduna Command Headquarters of the Nigeria Police, attached to Buruku Division while acting on the directive of the Commissioner of Police, CP Yekini A. Ayoku, psc (+),mni on rigorous patrols of all highways within the Command, on 21st July 2022 at about 1530hrs intercepted a large number of bandits.

According to a statement issued and signed by Mohammed Jalige, Public Relations Officer PRO, Kaduna State Command, "the gang of bandits were suspected to be on a heinous mission between Udawa/Buruku villages along Kaduna-Birnin Gwari road. 

"The bandits forcefully stopped three (3) commercial vehicles, whisked away the occupants and headed to the forest.

"The resilient operatives, on sighting the gang of criminals, immediately engaged and gave them a fierce chase amidst exchange of fire. The courage and precision of the operatives foiled the kidnap as the bandits fled into the forest with varying degrees of bullet wounds," Jalige stated.

"Eight (8) victims, namely; (1) Bilki Abdulkarim 'F' (2) Hanifa Abdulkarim 'F' (3) Rabiu Ahmed 'M' all of Birnin Gwari while (4) Sabiu Yusuf 'M' (5) Aminu Ibrahim 'M' (6) Amina Abdulkarim 'F' (7) Aisha Yusuf 'F' all of Udawa village of Chikun LGA Kaduna State, were successfully.

"However, the eighth victim, one Faridah Ahmed 'F' of Mando area sustained injury and was rushed to hospital for medical attention.

"The rescued victims were moved to Buruku Police Station where they were profiled, documented and escorted to their destination as concerted efforts are not spared in ensuring sanity of the road." The statement read.

The Commissioner of Police, according to the state spokesman of the NPF, appreciated the sacrifice of the gallant men and tasked them not relent in their commitment to restoring public confidence and safety on our highways always.

In a similar vein, the Kaduna state Command of the Nigeria Police, has sustained the onslaught on banditry across the state and this has yielded positive results as it neutralized two bandits and in the process, recovered an AK47 rifle alongside a motorcycle.

A statement by Muhammed Jalige, DSP revealed that, "armed men, on the previous day received a report through DPO Kidandan, an unspecified number of farmers working on their farm at Timburku village Galadimawa ward of Giwa LGA.

The statement further noted that, "the Commissioner of Police, CP Yekini Ayoku immediately directed the mobilisation of the nearby detachment of Police Operation Restore Peace (hitherto codenamed as Operation Puff Adder II) to the area; in the hot engagement that ensued with the armed hoodlums, the professional team of policemen prevailed with their superior fire power leading to the neutralisation of two (2) of the bandits, recovery of one AK47 rifle loaded with two (2) rounds of live ammunition, one motorcycle and a machete, while the victims (farmers) were rescued unhurt.

"It is germane to reiterate that this operational breakthrough could not have been achieved without the timely report/information by the citizens and of course, the swift response from the Police.

"The Commissioner of Police therefore, once again enjoins the general public to always confide in the police and other sister security agencies to promptly report any distress situation even as he assures them of speedy and effective response." Jalige said.

Investigation into the incident has since been instituted while surveillance and patrol are on high gear to forestall any further incident as normalcy is restored in the affected area. The populace is as well enjoined to provide information on any person or group who are found nursing bullet wounds. The statement ended.
