Niger Delta Youth Council Holds Its Elective Congress In Delta

In furtherance of its pursuit for quality leadership and promotion of its goals and objectives, the Niger Delta Youth Council of Nigeria (NDYCN) on Monday 18th July 2022 held its transition elective congress/election at Ohoror-Uwheru in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.

Comrade Daniel Onovwede Etaga, the outgone National President, in his opening remarks, thanked all Niger Delta youths for their support and encouragement while in office, noting that it is only by his grace and mercy we come this far, as we have contributed our quota to the peace and development of the Niger Delta region.

Comrade Etaga, in his address, appreciated all regional youth leaders who are key stakeholders, for honouring the invitation to attend the congress.

A statement signed and issued by Sunny O. Utuedor, Secretary, Electoral Officer gave the names of attendees as; Amb Sanco Ese Darlinton, SSA Political Matters, Comrade Edwin Afejuku, SA Special Duties, Hon Sunday Agbemre Sariki, SA Youth Mobilization, Hon Peter Etamutie, Councilor Uduophori Ward, Comrade Alex O Egedegbe, Fulani/Arnesty South South Coordinator, Hon O. Felix, SA Youth Development and among others.

The elective congress had the total number of adhoc delegates of 32. In the election proper, 27 voted for Comrade Adogbeji Blessing, 4 voted for Comrade Adaka Victor while I vote was voided. 

The exercise which was witnessed by the presidential aspirants and their agents, described the event as peaceful, credible and free.

The Chairman of the 2022 NDYCN elective congress electoral committee, Rt. Hon Iboro Fred from Akwa Ibom State, alongside the Secretary, Comrade Sunny O. Utuedor, from Delta State, attested that the exercise was most peaceful and credible. 

The Returning Officer of the 2022 NDYCN elective congress, Comrade Ese Sanco Darlington on behalf of the entire election committee, and after the result  was duly result, announced Comrade Adogbeji Blessing as winner of the 2022 NDYCN Presidential election, after scoring the highest number of votes cast.

His closest rival, Comrade Adaka Victor thanked and appreciated the delegates for showing strong trust and courage even as he lost the election.

Meanwhile, other contested elective positions were unopposed and the candidates were also declared winners of their various offices.

They are; Comrade Odonbadel I. Isaac - Vice President, Hon. Patrick Akpan- Secretary General, Comrade Osaretin Idahosa- Organising Secretary, Oghoredafe Kenneth Classic Oghorspride - Treasurer, Peacelyn Jumbo M - Financial Secretary, Wisdom Goodluck - PRO(Media), Amb. Preye Boliegha- Assistant Secretary, Mrs Osremhen V. Imonitie- Assistant Financial Secretary, Hon. Ojeje Inie Williams- National Provost and others.

Highlights of the exercise is staging for group photographs with regional youth leaders, government appointees, community youth leaders, civil society group and others.
