56 YRS OLD RAPIST APPREHENDED IN DELTA STATE Offers Rights Activist #100,000 Bribe To Cover Despicable Act

 A fifty six years old man has been arrested for allegedly defiling and raping a ten year old girl by the police in Orerokpe Division, Delta state.

The arrest of the rapist was facilitated by a prominent Human Rights activist, Israel Joe who equally turned down a bribe sum of one hundred and eleven thousand naira (#111,000:00) bribe given to him by the fifty six year old rapist after he had allegedly defiled and raped the ten year old girl as a cover in a hotel at Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State.

Comrade Joe, who is the Secretary of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, CDHR disclosed this in a statement he sent to Our Correspondent.

He explained that the suspect gave him one hundred thousand naira (N100,000) as his personal bribe to cover the matter.

Joe added that he also offered to give the victim's mother another eleven thousand naira (N11,000) to close the matter.

"I have handed over the 100k he bribed me with along with the other 11k the suspect gave to the victim's mother before the arival of the police. 

"The total of one hundred and eleven thousand naira (#111k) have been handed over to the police in Orerokpe for onward prosecution of the suspect. I nor dey collect bribe na justice we want. Pay for your crime and #SayNoToRape." He said.

Joe said the suspect, simply identified as Collins, has been arrested and he is cooling off his heels at the police cell in Orerokpe Division.

"The suspect," according to the Rights activist, "fled the community after he allegedly raped the girl at Ugolo Community also in Okpe Local Government Area."

According to Joe, the suspect had earlier bribed the victim father's family with the sum of three hundred and fifty thousand naira (N350,000) and community youths with the sum of three hundred and ten thousand naira(N310,000) separately.

He said, "The matter was brought to my attention on Wednesday 4th January, 2023. The lawyers along with the victim's mother who came to see me, said everything possible has been done to arrest the suspect but had yielded no response. 

"I had assured them that in 96 hours (4 days) my team and I would get him arrested and bring the culprit to book. The moment they told me the alleged pedophile is a rich man that can buy his ways through, I welcomed the matter, promising them this would be the last.

"I had lured him to come see me at a hotel in Osubi. He actually came today with a lot of youths and touts who even threatened me that their oga wants to settle the matter once and for all. 

"I had briefed the DPO, SP Oluwole Ojo of Orerokpe division, Delta State Command who had also being briefed about the issue. He told me to call him immediately they arrived and I had therefore, placed a call to him. He drove down himself with police in their numbers who dispersed the youths and arrested the suspect. The suspect in our presence, confessed that he had defiled only one child, meanwhile the community said this is the 6th child he defiled."
