Omo-Agege, Gbagi Tribunal Journey, Ploy To Remain In The News- PDP. .... Says Oborevwori 'll Prevail Again, Govern Delta For 8 years.

What appears to be a major face saving or soft landing strategy for some of the agonizing losers in the just concluded governorship election in Delta State, emerged over the weekend.

This was as the governorship candidates of the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi of the Social Democratic Party, SDP, filed petitions at the Election Petitions Tribunal, challenging the results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. 

However, some of the contestants have no problems with the result of the election, wherein INEC declared the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Rt Honourable Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, as the Governor-Elect. 

Following the declaration by INEC of Elder Oborevwori as Governor-elect, Chief Great Ogboru of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, and Engr Goodnews Goodman Agbi of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, accepted defeat and took steps further to pay congratulatory visits to the winner.

The Governor-Elect polled 360,234 votes to beat Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the APC, who garnered 240,229 votes to come second, he won in four LGAs, while SDP candidate, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi, and that of Labour Party, LP, Mr Ken Pella could not win in any local government out of the 25 local government areas in the state.

In a swift reaction to the petition filed separately by the opposition candidates, Senator Agege and Olorogun Gbagi, spokesperson of the PDP Campaign Council in Delta State, Olorogun Barrister Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, in a statement on Saturday and made available to newsmen in Lagos, said the two failed contestants filed petitions as a face saving or soft landing strategy to gradually snuff out the shame usually associated with acute failure and embarrassing defeat.

Oghenesivbe, who is also the Convener cum Chairman of the Coalition for Media Politics and Governance, CMPG, of the PDP, further posited that credible evidence at his disposal points to show that Agege and Gbagi want to use the legal tussles to stay in the news, before and after the inauguration of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, as the fourth democratically elected governor of Delta State under PDP, and nothing more

The PDP campaign spokesperson  assured Deltans and residents in the state, that it will be much easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for Agege who won in just four local governments out of 25 LGAs, and for Gbagi who could not win in any local government, to triumph at the Election  Petitions Tribunal and in our Courts.

He averred that the duo of APC and SDP candidates (Agege and Gbagi) are obviously in post election legal battle with PDP and the incoming governor, Oborevwori, to kill acute pains of the sad defeat and not to win at the Tribunal.

According to Oghenesivbe, Agege and Gbagi are dealing with the rude shock of self inflicted desperation to govern the state, even though available evidence revealed that the people do not want them for obvious reasons connected to their ugly past and lack of unpreparedness to govern Delta, a multi ethnic state.

He said PDP and her governorship candidate, now Governor-Elect, Rt Hon Oborevwori, as well as other candidates of the party were adequately prepared, mobilized the people, engaged in wide political consultations and worked very hard to win the 2023 governorship election, noting that PDP was the only party in the state that covered the entire state, haven campaigned extensively from door to door, unit to unit, community to community and LGA to LGA explaining the numerous advantages of the M.O.R.E agenda, while the opposition parties were busy deploying worthless media propaganda and falsehood instead of selling their manifestos to the people via electionerring campaigns.

"It's laughable for Agege who barely won in just four LGAs out of 25, to approach the Tribunal to perform some impossible miracles and declare him the winner. Wonders shall never end in Delta politics. 

"It's even more amusing and tasteless for the SDP candidate, Gbagi, who failed woefully in the entire 25 LGAs to approach the Tribunal. It doesn't add up constitutionally, morally and legally. It's just going to end up in fiasco, waste of time and scarce financial resources that ought to be used to empower their people. Billions of Naira will go down the drains in legal expenses and professional fees chasing shadows.

"Our amiable excessive local content incoming governor with street credibility, Rt Hon Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, JP, shall be sworn in as governor on May 29. 

"Oborevwori will triumph again at the Election Petitions Tribunal and in our Courts to the Glory of God Almighty, and govern Delta for eight years of two tenures. Deltans gave their mandate to him and him alone," Oghenesivbe assured.
