DELTA: ACTIVIST CRIES OUT OVER ALLEGED SHOOTINGS, KILLINGS IN EKPAN

.... Israel Joe Raises Alarm Over Massive Relocation Of Uvwie Residents Due To Restiveness.

A human right activist, Comrade Israel Joe on Monday stressed that the news of alleged shootings as well as the senseless killings arising from intra and inter-communal conflicts from Ekpan and adjourning communities of Uvwie is highly worrisome.

In a statement he signed and made available to Naijanewsalert.com.ng in Asaba, the Delta State capital, Joe said Uvwie indigenes should not regret this someday.

He noted that people are gradually relocating from Uvwie to other suburbs in Delta State due to restiveness in Ekpan and other areas in Uvwie Local Government Area of the State.

He said the people of Uvwie have refused to learn their lessons inspite of the alleged relocation from their land.

Joe warned that, Ekpan and Uvwie should understand that glory left Warri because of the crisis.

According to Comrade Joe, "In the 80s, nobody thought or would ever have believed that Warri would become a shadow of itself, bustling, only with old glory. But here we are today, in the reality of that very doubtful anticipation. The crisis moved almost all companies and critical infrastructures to Rivers State and today, Delta state still suffers from that action."

He said, "Funnily, as a people, we don't learn from the past. Uvwie has become one of the richest and developed local government in Delta State, hosting the Refinery, all top hotels, Petroleum Training Institute (PTI), Federal University of Petroleum Resources, all Banks, DPR and all Oil companies, Delta Mall, Nigeria Army Barracks (3 Battalion), Nigeria Naval Station etc."
