The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe has thrown his support behind the decision of the Delta state government to engage far more reputable contractors in the execution of quality and sustainable projects.

Oghenesivbe stated this recently in a monitored radio (Crown 94.7 FM)  programme following the recent flag-off of infrastructural projects by the Delta state Chief Executive, Rt. Honourable Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, to the tune of #78bn naira.

The flag-off event saw the Governor alongside principal officers of state and former governors, prominent leaders and stakeholders in attendance.

Oghenesivbe, a media strategist and communications expert used the opportunity to expantiate on the  multifaceted gains of collaborating with foreign contractors, effectively dispelling misconceptions surrounding the allocated 78 billion naira lump sum. 

He stressed that only 25% of the contract amount had been disbursed, dispelling speculations of a lump sum payment for the contract that has been circulating throughout the State.

Speaking on the indispensable role of indigenous contractors, Oghenesivbe assured of the pivotal roles they play in execution of government projects, stressing that government will continue to engage local contractors in projects that align with their expertise and capabilities. 

Emphasizing on the importance of specialized expertise and sophisticated machinery for use on certain projects Oghenesivbe reiterated government's commitment to ensuring optimal management, financial discipline, and quality delivery; a core tenet embodied by foreign contractors.

He debunked notions in certain quarters of indigenous contractors need to settle government officials or agencies from the bid sum allocated to the contract. 

He emphasized the stance of the Delta state government against corruption while also, highlighting the aspiration for enduring, high-quality projects that transcend the current administration.

Latimore further emphasized the government's commitment to fostering projects that stand the test of time, stressing the importance of using taxpayers' money to ensure the delivery of exceptional and long-lasting infrastructure. 

He expressed his deep confidence in the competence of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, underscoring his assurance in their delivery of superior, uncompromised work.
