A UNIFIED ACTION WILL GUARANTEE SUCCESS OF THE RENEWED HOPE AGENDA...... TUNJI-OJO

Interior Minister, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo and Senior Assistant to President on Humanitarian and Poverty Alleviation during her courtesy visit to the Ministry of Interior on Thursday in Abuja.

An appeal has gone to the three arms of government to cooperate and coordinate their efforts towards the realization of the Renewed Hope Agenda of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration which aims to create a better Nigeria for all.

Making this passionate appeal is the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo when he received in audience, the Special Adviser to the President on Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Honourqble Delu Bulus Yakubu, during a courtesy visit to the Ministry of Interior headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, December 14, 2023.

Tunji-Ojo, in a statement issued and signed by Afonja Fatai Ajibola, Deputy Director Press, said that "governance and democracy are built on the interdependency of various agencies, and that humanitarian affairs have the most impact on the lives of the people."

“No sector of the economy can touch more people than humanitarian affairs,” he said.

The Minister of Interior commended the Special Adviser for her visit and willingness to partner with the Ministry to achieve the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR.

He reiterated that the Renewed Hope Agenda seeks to build a better Nigeria that is based on proper integration, emancipation of the rights of the people and a Nigeria where the weakest can have equal opportunities as the strongest.

Hon. Tunji-Ojo further assured the Special Adviser of the ministry’s support and partnership in fulfilling her mandate and objectives.

He expressed optimism that in the year 2024, there will be huge prospects of collaborations, knowledge sharing and joint tasks between the two offices, and that together, they can make a difference in the lives of millions of Nigerians.

Speaking earlier, Hon. Yakubu expressed her gratitude to the Minister of Interior for his warm reception and sought his backing to her office in addressing humanitarian issues and ensuring social development across the country.

"Our major area of interest apart from necessary other human services we intend to embark on, is to focus on providing skills training for the inmates in our various Correctional Centres. 

"For our Renewed Hope Agenda to get much positive impact, it behoves on us to collaborate and provide these inmates with various skills to enable them to contribute to the economy, as well as become useful to themselves and their families at the completion of their jail terms," she said. 

Hon. Yakubu stressed that her office, despite having no budgetary allocation, was determined to complement government efforts in ensuring that essential services are provided to the poor masses, and that she was ready to partner with the Ministry of Interior to achieve this goal.

Present at the occasion are the Acting Permanent Secretary, Dr Peter Egbodo, some Directors and Special Assistants to the Honourable Minister.
