FERMA ASSURES NIGERIANS OF SAFER ROADS DURING YULETIDE ..... FERMA Is Strategically Positioned To Improve Nigerian Roads, Engr. Agbasi

Ahead of the Yuletide celebrations, the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, in its avowed commitment to ensure that Nigerians enjoy safe and motorable driving experience, has commenced its Yuletide Easy Road passage programme tagged; "Operation Connect Your Destination" on the ever busy Abuja-Keffi dual carriage way.

The event which took place today, had in attendance, the Managing Director of the Agency, Engr Chukwuemeka Agbasi, key officers of the agency and other critical stakeholders present.

Mr. Agbasi, while speaking at the event, disclosed that with the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration, FERMA is strategically positioned to improve the economy of the country by improving on the socio-economic values that roads offered.

State Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps, Nasarawa State who was represented by SRC. D. Gidago, the outpost Commander (Goshen-Nyanyan), appreciated the innovation of FERMA in improving on the operations of Road Safety members by making the road more motorable, safe for motorists.



Also at the event, the Unit Coordinator of Nyanya-AYA of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC Special Marshall, Olu Adekunle applauded FERMA for its resolve in sustaining the tempo in ensuring that Nigerian roads are in safe enough conditions for commuters.


Adekunle further commended the Agency for its intervention in addressing critical failures and bad spots on the route, describing it as worthy and humane, noting that the Goshen Nyanya spot has been of great concern to stakeholders managing traffic along the roads stressing that its dilapidated condition have caused untold hardship on motorists and other stakeholde.

Head of Direct Labour of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, Engr Sani Abdulkadri, maintained that the operation; "Connect With Your Destination" is a program initiated by the Direct Labour Department of FERMA, designed to ensure free flow of traffic across the country during the Yuletide, targeting, 36 major roads in the geopolitical zones across the country, in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Works.


Engr Abdulkadir appealed to road users to exercise patience with personnel of FERMA who are working to ensure that commuters do not experience difficulties on the roads owing to road failures. He commended the FRSC for their continued collaboration as critical stakeholders, especially with representatives of FERMA and their Field Offices across the nation.



He further appreciated the FRSC for proving FERMA with needed information regarding black spots on the highways noting that, FERMA has deployed teams to such identified spots to address the failures.



"The Abuja-Keffi road is one of the major routes connecting the entire north central to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT and other parts of the country. FERMA will be working on critical areas of road failures between now and mid-January all across the country." He stated.
