FG DECLARES THURSDAY 11TH MARCH PUBLIC HOLIDAY

..... Congratulates Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation

..... Reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.

Following the announcement from the Sultanate on the declaration of Wednesday 10th March as Sallah for Muslim faithful across the country, the Federal Government has approved Thursday 11th April, 2024 as an additional Public Holiday to celebrate this year's Eid-El-Fitr.

This approval was declared by the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo via a statement issued and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Aishetu Gogo Ndayako and made available to journalists in Abuja on Tuesday.

The Minister, while congratulating the Muslim Ummah for a successful completion of a month of spiritual rejuvenation, reiterates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's firm commitment to providing a safe and prosperous Nigeria for all to thrive.

Stakeholders have however berated the Federal Goverment on its haste to declare 9th and 10th of March as Public Holidays without proper consultation with appropriate bodies.

Some described it as unfortunate due to the perceived loss of unexpected working hours to the nation. Accordingly, it means that the whole of the week is gone, as "work free".

However, the Director Press and Public Relations Department of the Ministry, Ozoya Imohimi gave clarification that the Federal Goverment, before declaration of holidays, relevant stakeholders were always consulted.
