PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM: FMITI Unveils Revolutionary PMS To Elevate Civil Service Efficiency

The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, in a landmark move to enhance accountability and efficiency within the civil service, has officially launched its Performance Management System (PMS).
This initiative, according to a statement from the Director Information and Public Relations Department of the Ministry, Adebayo Thomas, is spearheaded by the Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, aligns with the Civil Service Strategic Implementation Plan 2021-2025.
During the launch event, Permanent Secretary Amb. Nura Abba Rimi highlighted the transformative impact of the PMS on public service delivery. “This event marks a significant milestone in our commitment to implementing the Federal Civil Service Plan (FCSP). Our aim is to enhance performance, transparency, and accountability in governance, thereby improving service delivery across the ministry,” he stated.
The PMS is designed to provide a structured approach to performance evaluation, ensuring that individual contributions align with the ministry’s overarching goals. Amb. Rimi emphasized the system’s benefits, noting that it will lead to “improved productivity” and “enhanced employee success through regular feedback.”
"Performance contracts have already been signed between the Permanent Secretary, directors, and heads of units, with appraisals under the new system already underway. This demonstrates the ministry’s dedication to continuous performance improvement.
