Health Ministry To Prioritize Effective Service Delivery in Health Institutions -Seeks Robust Partnership With Media

The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has reiterated its unwavering commitment to ensuring excellence in service delivery targeted at improving quality of care across federal health institutions nationwide.

Giving this assertion is the Honourable Minister of State, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako during an interactive session with Health Correspondents of the Ministry in the nation's capital, Abuja.

Saloko, who spoke with emphasis on the Ministry's policies and agenda for year 2025, asserted that effective and efficient service delivery aimed at improving the health of Nigerians will be accorded premium priority.

He explained that policies initiated by the Ministry, coupled with equipping of hospitals with critical physical infrastructures such as theatres, ambulances, hospitals and wards; are deliberately planned and being implemented towards ensuring quality healthcare.

"This is so important because the whole essence of what we do, all the policies, budgetary allocations to health sector to spend: To what end? 

"To employ doctors, nurses, build hospitals and buy ambulances, everything we do is targeted and to what end? It is targeted at improving the health of Nigerians." Dr. Salako stated

Speaking further, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako affirmed that prioritizing quality healthcare and efficient service delivery in our health institutions resonate with the Ministry's strategic agenda and direction under the Health Renewal Investment Initiative and Sector-Wide Approach.

While fielding questions from the Correspondents, Dr Salako highlighted the plans of the Ministry to emphasize more on prevention in its approach to healthcare, affirming that the role of the media towards achieving this objective is very critical.

The Honourable Minister further informed the Health Correspondents that preventing diseases is another priority project of the Ministry. "This preventive approach", according to him, "was part of the discourse during the briefing we had with Departments and Agencies of the Ministry and, tertiary health institutions."

"You will see a lot of emphasis on prevention, focusing on preventing diseases rather than waiting for disease and going to hospitals", he added.

To this end, Dr. Salako stated that immunization is tied to this project, stressing, the role of Journalists through field monitoring and reporting is key to receiving feedback.
