Ohaneze Ndigbo President General Election: Southeast National Assembly Caucus Endorses Sir Mike Okiro. .... Says solving Southeast problems requires someone of his calibre at the helm of Ohaneze Ndigbo

Leader of the Southeast Senate Caucus of the National Assembly and his counterpart in the House of Representatives.

.... No other current contenders to the exalted seat has the pedigree, antecedent and background to reaching across and solving problems like Sir Mike Okiro.

The South East Caucus of the National Assembly on Wednesday, January 8, 2025  called on the delegates to the 10th January Ohaneze Ndigbo President General election to back Sir Mike Okiro for President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo saying that solving the myriad of problems bedeviling the Southeast region and the entire Igbo people requires a well known and well connected leader of Ohaneze Ndigbo like Sir Mike Okiro working in collaboration with legislators from the region. 

Leader of the Southeast Senate Caucus of the National Assembly and his counterpart in the House of Representatives made the call in a statement in Abuja. 

In endorsing Okiro, the leaders cited his leadership as the Inspector General of Nigeria Police Force and Chief Law Enforcement Officer of Nigeria and the chairman of the Police Service Commission as their reason for endorsing him. 

The contended that this is serious and trying time for Ndigbo in Nigeria, particularly those in the Southeast region as the people of the region continued to be faced with the upheaval of insecurity as a result of the continued detention of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. 

According to the leaders no other current contenders to the exalted seat has the pedigree, antecedent and background to reaching across and solving problems like Sir Mike Okiro. "We will work with Sir Mike Okiro as the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo to get Mazi Nnamdi Kanu freed from incarceration, restore law and order in the Southeast and create the enabling environment for businesses to thrive, and regain the wealth which has been lost in the region as a consequence of insecurity.
