ÒÒRÓ TOWN IN A DILEMMA OF STOLEN CROWN BY A USURPER, JOEL OYATOYE: WE DEMAND FOR JUSTICE. By Pa. Johnson Oyebamiji.

Òòró stool is not an exception of the kind of bastardization of the Obaship system across Yorùbá land. In most cases, influence of money (bribing and corruption), power intrigues and selfishness among the kingmakers; and "naked power" of the sitting governor of a state, has taken over the divine role of Ifa oracle to select a King that will only protect their own selfish interests against the overall interest of the people. 

In the case of Òòró town, we have an usurper, Joel Oyatoye parading himself as King in a derogatory and an unworthy manner. It is on record that the usurper of Òòró stool has been moving around in an unbefitting regalia and climbing on a motorbike to attend even some ceremonies that he was not invited. A case in point was the event to present the Staff of Office to Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Aláàfin of Òyó. His appearance at the event was without any form of official invitation that befits the status of a well respected traditional ruler in Yorùbá land. But, he intruded into the event for desperate recognition to diminish the natural recognition that is always accorded a traditional King in Yorùbá land.

Worse still, at his so-called coronation, no official or representative of the government, which includes the Governor, Deputy Governor, Commissioners, Local Government Chairmen and Speaker of the State House of Assembly attended the event.

Moreover, since his so-called ascension to the throne as usurper (Joel Oyatoye), "eye kò ké bí eye mó,eku kò ké bí eku mó, omo ènìyàn kò fo ohùn gégé bí omo ènìyàn mó(the birds, rats and human beings are now behaving in a very strange manners). 

It is imperative to say, the good people of Òòró need a son of the soil to be crowned as King, who will also live among the people so that they would be able to pay obeisance to him inside the ancient Palace of Olóòòró of Òòró. The usurper, Joel Oyatoye who is not an indegene of Òòró or, is known to have a single property in Òòró town, has not slept in the Palace for one day since his so-called ascension to the throne. In other words, the usurper, Joel Oyatoye is from Iludun Ooro that has no royal tie whatsoever with the kingship of Ooro. 

Suffice it to say, Òòró town is now a shadow of hopelessness and despair because the people of the community are not just happy that the rightful owner of the crown, Prince Clements Oyebode Adegbola Ogundokun is still fighting tooth and nail to recover the stolen throne from the usurper, Joel Oyatoye. 

It is pertinent to say the love for Prince Clements Oyebode Adegbola Ogundokun (the Ifá anointed heir to the throne) by his people is unparalleled because of his humanitarian heart and selfless service to the community. He has done a lot of good things for his people like yearly palliatives for the vulnerable population, provision of portable drinking water through the sinking of boreholes to many households in the community, collaborating with others to fix some of the bad roads in the community and giving scholarships to indigent students. This is coupled with the fact that, he provides solar energy to the library in Ooro Town.

In addition, Prince Clements Oyebode Adegbola Ogundokun is prepared and determined to seek for remedy to the injustice meted to his people for allowing an usurper, Joel Oyatoye (someone who has no ancestral lineage to the throne of Olóòòró Of Òòró) to claim the ownership of the crown in the Court of Justice.

We are joining other concerned citizens of Òòró town to call on his Excellency, Governor Abdul Rahman Abdul Razak (who is known for his very good conscience; and a devout muslim) to listen to the plight of the good people of Òòró town to make sure, that justice is served.
